Best of December: Best events of the month

In the month of December, our HoopSeen.com team covered 12 major events on the East Coast. It was a jam-packed month of high-level ball and high-level prospects from all levels.

Tai Young, Justin Young and Daniel Paccione were at the ARS/Roter Rooter DC Classic, Gonzaga DC Classic, Bojangles Bash, Tournament of Champions Showcase, Hawks Naismith Classic, City of Palms, Emerald Coast 16, Crowntown Classic, Chick-fil-A Classic, Tournament of Champions Holiday Classic, Big Hoops Shootout and the Lake City Classic.

We look back on a terrific month of hoops and recall the very best of December. In this snapshot, we highlight the best event.

Tai Young’s Best event: Chick-fil-A Classic (Columbia, S.C.)
California, Arizona, Maryland, New Jersey, and so many more. Part of what made the Chick-Fil-A Classic the best event I went to is the number of out of area teams that attend on a yearly basis. Where else can you find Brandon Boston, Anthony Edwards, and James Wiseman in the aux gym? The number of prospects in attendance came in waves as the majority of the games featured high major talent. The Chick Fil A Classic continues to be a premier post-Christmas event.

Justin Young’s Best event: ARS Rescue Rooter National Hoopfest DC Classic (Washington D.C.)
I’ve long preached that Washington D.C. is the best city in the country for high school hoops. So when Travis Haddock paired some of the best D.C. area programs against some of the very best prep schools in the country, it was an easy decision to make the trip to the nation’s capital. IMG and Montverde, two of the most powerful prep programs in the world, took on DeMatha and Paul VI, respectively. IMG beat DeMatha and Montverde beat Paul VI. Both games were incredible. All the while guys like Anthony Edwards and Jalen Johnson wowed the crowd with their individual play.
