#GACup I Eye-Catchers; Part III
The first Georgia Cup of the season was full of impressive players. The Cup stage allows our staff a good, long look at prospects in an intense setting. A good number of players stood out to our Justin Young from the weekend. Here’s a deeper look into his evaluation notebook. Who stood out? These guys certainly did.
Pat Burke, Tri-City Elite, 15U: The Alabama guard was a point scoring machine at the Georgia Cup. Burke pumped in the buckets from three, from the foul line and in transition. He’s a volume scorer that lit up defense after defense.
Trey Howze, Team Forrest, 16U: The 6-foot-3 guard from Alcovy (GA) High School was an eye-catcher with his length at the guard spot and multi-positional production. Howze has great long-term size and so much intrigue moving forward. We’ve seen players like him make big jumps between their sophomore and junior campaigns in high school. Keep a close watch on him moving forward because there is plenty of skill to work with and develop into a really nice college prospect.
Jared Russo, Atlanta AllStars, 15U (pictured above): The big man was a really nice player in the games I saw from his with his talented All-Stars group. The 6-foot-6 post player is skilled enough to run the floor, knock down a three in the halfcourt and be a go-to presence inside as a rebounder. Very impressed with his skill set and look forward to watching more from the class of 2022 big man in the months to come.
Mansir Williamson, Double Trouble, 14U: One of the really nice prospects of the event. Tai Young was very impressed with the class of 2023 guard. Williamson showed the ability to be a dominant two way prospect in his class. Given his size and upside, his future is encouraging. We look forward to seeing more of him moving forward.
