2018 #BOTS 17U Top Performers: Part V

The 2018 Best of the South was loaded with talented players and teams. Our staff has poured through our piles of notes and worked through our notes to identify the very best players in this year's field.

RELATEDPart I | Part II | Part III | Part IV

Riley Costas, God’s Property, 2019: A game tying shot to go into overtime and another 20+ point game gave this Gods Property forward some notoriety at the Best of the South. Costas could make a case for being one of the most consistent players amongst the top tier independent teams that played with us this weekend. His efforts helped lead his team to the Championship game. - Tai Young

Brandon Deravine, Georgia Elite Ballers, 2019 (pictured): The 6-foot-5 wing was one of the many players who helped the Elite Baller bring home a championship trophy at the Best of the South. He’s played his way into the Division I dialogue this travel season. He has great size and production from the wing position to warrant such attention. Deravine helped his team go 5-1 on the week and was one of the best players in his bracket. - Justin Young

Jervae Peters, Pro One Select White, 2019: Peters fits perfectly into the 3&D type game that is consuming all levels of basketball. The 6-foot-2 combo guard loves guarding the opposing team's best perimeter player, as he did at #BOTS. An increased scoring load and offensive arsenal is what makes Peters intriguing going forward. The Grissom (AL) product put up some points this weekend, highlighted by a 30-point performance on Friday. - Garrett Tucker

Eddie Smith, Alabama Celtics, 2019: The Alabama Celtics went 6-1 on the weekend and much of that was because of the play of Eddie Smith. The shifty, high-octane guard served as scorer and playmaker for his team. With the ability to get by anyone he wants, the rising senior kept defenses on its toes throughout the weekend. Smith's shot-making ability and microwave scoring ability is something that will draw interest from a variety of different levels.  - Garrett Tucker

Kyky Tandy, Team Thad, 2019: One of the most explosive end to end players at our BOTS was Team Thad guard Kyky Tandy. Coming into our event he was widely heralded as a top player 100 player and he didn't do anything to make anyone question those rankings. Against other high major talents, Tandy was able to break down defenders with his patented first step and jerky moves on his way to several tough finishes. There's no doubt that Tandy was one of the crowd favorites amongst coaches and fans. - Tai Young
