We continue our deep dive into the top performers from the 2018 Bob Gibbons Tournament of Champions from the 17 and under division. 

Keon Johnson, EAB, 2020, SG: Another tournament, another showing for Johnson on our top overall performers list. This has been a constant this spring for the national top 100 rising junior. He’s been terrific on his terrific EAB team. Few guys slash better to the rim than Johnson. Once again, he was one of the toughest players to guard from wing to rim in the entire field. - Justin Young  

Kamar Robertson, Atlanta Celtics, 2019, PG: He’s just tough as nails at this event, showing great poise and used his ability to see the floor to spread the floor out with his talented teammates. He’s a mixture of scoring a passing on offense and was consistent in production throughout the event. Overall, it was a really good effort and showing from the rising senior guard. - Justin Young

Mason Shifflett, M.A.T.T.S. Mustangs, 2019 G: There’s a ton of value in a guard that doesn't cause head-scratchers, plays within himself while putting points on the board.  Matt's Mustangs guard Mason Shifflett fits these characteristics as a player that could score or assist on slot of his team's possessions. His pace of spoke volumes as a guy that's seen a lot of scenarios play out on the court. - Tai Young

Moulaye Sissoko, Georgia Stars, 2019 PF: Regardless of any box score, Sissoko was one of the players I knew I would have to devote some ink too. Time after time this Georgia Stars forward would make a play in the paint that was far beyond his years. His sheer size and demeanor make him an imposing prospect that make other 6-foot-8 forwards seem slight in stature. Mobile enough to put on the breaks yet strong enough to finish through contact, Sissoko showed why high majors have extended offered. - Tai Young 

Trenton Stephney, EOTO, 2019 PG: Stephney helped pace EOTO 2019 to a 3-1 record over the duration of the tournament. The super smooth guard is a natural scorer. He is a clutch shooter that has the ability to take games over. The 6-2 point from Bearden HS in Knoxville, TN is a sure-fire playmaker. He uses his speed burst to get into the lane and score around the basket. He is cat-quick defensively which allowed him to create baskets off of turnovers for his team. - Jeff Roberts

Dionte Ware, Tennessee Tigers, 2019 SF: His “bulldog” mentality clearly defined his toughness as a competitor. He scored the basketball due to clean old-fashion aggressiveness. Ware attacked the basket ferociously this weekend. He embraced the contact and still made plays to finish at the rim. It wasn’t a surprise to hear the referees blow their whistle sending him to the free throw line on multiple occasions. Also, it was noted that he was able to knock down jumpers in catch-and-shoot scenarios. Ware’s physique and strength make him an asset on the defensive side of the ball as well. There was no hesitation in him guarding the low-post and making attempts for defensive stops. A solid weekend for the Tennessee native indeed. - Austin Smith
