Ben Sheppard chooses Belmont
Once a top sleeper in Georgia, Ben Sheppard used the live periods to rack up several division 1 offers. Today, one of the states best combo guards ended his recruitment with a commitment to Belmont head coach Rick Byrd.
" I took a visit last Thursday and I just had a gut feeling when I got on campus. I met all of the coaches and players and just felt comfortable there. When I left I told myself that's where I wanted to be."
During last years title run, Justin Young named Sheppard one of the seasons biggest stock risers going into the spring. Sheppard caught the attention of our HoopSeen staff at our Bama Jam, earning the label of a top performer during the first live period. Sheppard gives the Bruins some more playmaking at the guard spot along with legitimate size at 6-5. With several options to choose from, the former state champion provided us with some more insight into his decision.
"Radford was a close number two. They(Belmont) always have a really good record. The location in Nashville is really good. It's overall just a really good place."
