In Case You Missed It: July 26

Each weekend, we will recap the stories that came across the HoopSeen.com wire and consolidate them to one east-to-find space. Did you miss a player feature or an event recap? No worries. Check the link below to find exactly what you are look for.

CJ Jackson: Playing in his final travel team event in Georgia, the current North Carolina resident entered the Best of the South with ZERO offers. He soon left BOTS with a championship and a number of offers.

Nate Mason: The big moment has never been an issue for the Shiloh High product. This Baltimore native does not shy away from the big moment. He embrasses them and has done so in July.

Justin Gray: When you mix academics and athletics together there is no surprise which college programs were interested in getting a better look at the Florida Select.

Eric Hamilton: Things finally clicked for the North Gwinnett High rising senior. For the last month, he has taken his dedication to the game one step further. He showed college coaches during the Best of the South he's only going to continue working.

Troy Holston: Shooting is such a lost art that college coaches are looking for a player who can stretch the floor. During the BOTS, the North Florida Elite product had several head coaches taking in the action any time his team played.

Avery Patterson: The son of a former Georgia Tech women's basketball player, Patterson understands how to play but some college programs were unsure. After watching him display what they like, the Wheeler High product has turned interests into offers.

More offers, more offers, more offers

Raasean Davis is shooting up the recuiting ranks faster than the temperature outside. The Paulding County (Ga.) High product has caught the attention of a number of college programs.

Since leading his team through Bob Gibbons Tournament of Champions, Juwan Evans has continued to be the buzz in the recruiting world. The South Carolina native has college coaches lining up to see the SC Raptors play.

Notebooks

Just a Minute: In his weekly column, Justin Young talks about the importance of team camraderie in the travel basketball world. He also reflects back on the untimely death of Vot Barber, the former Auburn University basketball player and Manchester (Ga.) native.

Seen Around the Hoop: Robert Alfonso Jr. talks about the importance of playing on Sunday during the July Live period if you are a 15U team.

And the winner is ...

Every teams goal when entering a tournament is to play on Sunday. This is championship Sunday where only the best get to meet each other for a title. Aim High, Florida Elite and the Upward Stars took the Gold brackets of the Best of the South leaving an impression on the college coaches in attendance and their opponents. The Silver bracket had a team that its only lose was via forfeit, while the other needed a missed shot in the end to secure the victory.

Also, basketball superlatives are great after a tournament because there are always names and games that stood out the most over the course of an event. Here are the ones that left their mark on the BOTS 17U, 16U and 15U divisions.

Seen on the sidelines

Being a prospective college basketball player everyone wants to be in the best situation possible so a college program can see them play. Well, the Best of the South was filled with talent and college coaches alike from all levels. See which schools were in attendance.
