SUWANEE, GA - The Best of the South 16U showed that it has some budding prospects who caught the attention of those in attendance.

Here is who earned the top superlatives of the weekend.

PG: Donovan Hale, Florida Elite

Crafty guard who will get by you before you can think about getting into any defensive stance. He facilitated his team well and found easy buckets for teammates. The Largo High product is also an explosive athlete.

SG: Ethan Stair (pictured), Alabama Elite

Easily the most versatile player in the division who can shoot, rebound and handle the ball. He is also a solid defender.

SF: Charles Minland, Upward Stars Charlotte

The son of former St. John’s University standout showed that the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree. This First Assembly Concord product is explosive with a knack of scoring the ball.

PF: Charles Bain, Bahamas Jaguars

This lanky forward is one who can rebound out of his area and stretch the floor with his shooting ability.

C: Martins Igbanu, 3T All-Stars

While many post players are strictly playing with their back to the basket, he has enough moves facing a defender or posting them up to be effective. Some more polish will make him special.

Top scorer: Ricky Holden, LJC Elite

Top shooter: JJ Arcega Whiteside, Upward Stars

Top rebounder: Tope Arikawe, 3T All-Stars

Top shot-blocker: Keion Farrington, Bahamas Jaguars

Top guard: Antonio Blakeney, E1T1

Top wing: Dalton Barkley, Alabama Elite

Top big: Shaquillo Fritz, Bahamas Jaguars

Best dunk: Nick Egona, Atlanta Select Classic

He caught the ball on the break and flew through the air before throwing down an emphatic one-handed dunk.

Best play: LJC Elite versus NC Eagles

Both teams loved to push the ball. However, the Mississippi based team had just a little bit more get on their side. LJC ran a fast break after a shot that it seemed like the ball never touched the ground. Being able to push the ball up the floor the way they did it was hard to pick out one particular play.

Best game: 3T All-Stars versus Bahamas Jaguars, 62-56

This game was a college coaches dream. There were solid and strong post players. It had skilled wings knocking down shots. The Bahamas edged out 3T late in the game when Charles Bain knocked down and 3-pointer with less than 30 seconds to play. The Bahamas won but 3T had just enough points to get into the Gold Bracket.
