Deuce Dean provides HoopSeen with a recruitment update

Columbia, SC - This past weekend, the Bojangles Bash featured some of the top players in South Carolina. There were several available guards that were in attendance from Ridge View guards Walyn Napper and Crosby James to Gray Collegiates Tommy Bruner and Khalil Robinson. Of all the talented guards in attendance, none of them boast an offer sheet with more noticeable names like that of York Prep guard Deuce Dean.
"Right now Im hearing the most from Providence, Utah State, Clemson, and San Fransisco." said Dean when asked about his offers.
Dean appears to be taking his time with the process of choosing a school as he has yet to take advantage of any of his five visits.
"I havent taken any official visits. I been to Georgia Tech this spring, I've been to Charlotte this spring. Probably, for sure, the only ones that will be on that list right now that I know of is Providence."
When asked about what programs have left a lasting mark with him, Dean spoke highly of his interactions with Providence assistant coach Jeff Battle.
"The conversation with coach Battle from Providence. He was talking to me how they're looking for a leader and just telling me stuff he's heard about me. I just feel like I fit right into that. So he's talking about being a leader and a coach on the court."
Watch the York Prep guard for a few possessions and you'll understand the value that he brings to a program. Wide shoulders on a 6'5 point guard make him a tough and durable piece that can be shifted all across the board. With DJ Burns moving on to Tennessee, Dean's size is useful as a defender of both guards and post alike. Spending no time resting on the good in his game, the time reserved for visits was instead used to work on his craft.
"Jumpshots. Keep shooting jumpshots. Pullups, catch and shoot, all that." said Dean about what aspect he wanted to improve. "I wanted to get myself together for the season, and make sure I spent more time in the gym. Make sure to get myself better before I go to a school for an official. Make sure I go to the right school."
