West Henderson's Ben Bryson, the Co-WMAC Conference Player of the Year has committed to UVA-Wise and Head Coach Blake Mellinger. The 6-foot-3 point guard chose UVA-Wise over Newberry, Limestone and a preferred walk-on spot at Tennessee.

Bryson ends his career as West Henderson's leading scorer and was named to the NCBCA District 12 1st Team. Bryson had this to say about his commitment, "the most obvious reason for me was how the coaching staff prioritized me and took time everyday to reach out and talk to me. I had many d1 schools interested in me but the guys at Wise made me feel I was their top priority. Also the campus was beautiful and it reminded me a lot of home in WNC."

Bryson was a regular on our HoopSeen stage and was named all-tournament at The Atlanta Jam and a top performer at our Best of the South playing with the Tennessee Bobcats.

One of the top unsigned big men in North Carolina, 6-foot-9 forward Alex Holt from Lexington, North Carolina is in the process of scheduling visits and is going to take one of his three remaining to High Point University and is still trying to set up a visit to Furman. He has already taken an official visit to Morehead State back in September.

Holt is a true old-school big man that can score over either shoulder, has a soft touch around the basket, rebounds and can block and alter shots. He runs the floor well for his size and can bang in the paint.

His total number of offers stand at seven with Presbyterian, Radford, New Hampshire, Morehead State, Catawba, Wingate, and Lander.

Geico Nationals Moving South

With the threat of the coronavirus in New York City, The Geico Nationals will be moved from Christ the King High School in Queens to Dorman High School in Spartanburg, South Carolina on April 2-4.

Dorman received an invitation to the event back in January and won their appeal with the SCHSL to participate in the national tournament.

Dorman and Head Coach Thomas Ryan recently captured their fourth straight SCHSL state championship and are led by Clemson-bound senior PJ Hall and Butler-bound point guard Myles Tate
