HoopSeen Tip-Off Top Performers
Tip-Off was as deep with talent as ever this past weekend. This has been the stage that sets the tone for bigger things to come throughout the rest of the spring and summer. If you want some evidence, take a look back at last year's Tip-Off. Three of the top performers went on to start professional careers that summer. The Thompson twins went to Overtime Elite, and Scoot Henderson made history with the G-League Ignite. Chien-Hao Ma signed with Georgia State shortly after having a great weekend at Tip-Off, and just a few weeks ago, he was playing against Gonzaga in the NCAA Tournament.
This year, we have another crop of top performers who started their travel seasons off on the right foot. Personally, I can't wait to see the waves these guys make as the spring and summer progress.
Coming off of a state title with Greeenforest, Tenebay continued his high level of play and winning ways with a great weekend at Tip-Off with AOT. The 6-foot-5 guard showed off his scoring prowess and eclipsed the 20-point mark twice. Tenebay flexed his range on Friday night with a 5 3-pointer game, and he followed that up by draining three more the next morning. Outside of being able to put points on the board, Tenebay is a disruptive, lengthy defender that can swallow up opposing guards. With a live period coming up, Tenebay should be on coaches’ lists. - Josh Tec
On a team with a high-powered, potent backcourt, Bilal consistently poured in points for the Stars. He scores the ball well from all over the floor, but he’s especially good from the 3-point line and in transition. The strong, athletic guard is hard to stay in front of when he turns on the jets. Bilal currently has offers from Xavier and Vanderbilt. After his performance at Tip-Off, I’d expect that to expand as the 2024 class steps into a more prominent recruiting spotlight this summer. - Josh Tec
This may be the most college-ready prospect in the Georgia Stars program. He has a college-ready build in his chest and his shoulders and he can score it from all over the floor. Hamilton was one of the most consistent shooters we saw over the weekend and he was also able to get to the rim and score as well as anyone. He currently holds offers from Virginia Tech, Auburn, Alabama, and Georgia Tech. - Justin Byerly
Probably the most athletic player at the Tip-Off, Jones has the ability to take over a game with his athleticism and ability to get to the rim. The 6 foot five wing uses his length to get rebounds and live around the rim. He was all over the Internet and went viral with a dunk during play yesterday at the event. His skillset and size at his age will have college coaches all over the country getting involved in his recruitment over the next few years. - Justin Byerly
You want to know the fastest way to get into the discussion as a top overall performer amidst a stacked group of players and teams? Win and be consistent in doing so. The One Shot Shooters went undefeated and didn’t play a close game. They were dominant. Christian Watkins led the charge for them throughout the weekend. The team’s name is appropriate because they certainly have a shooter in Watkins on their hands. Not a game went by in which he didn’t hit at least three 3-pointers. Overall, there weren’t many more consistently great scorers on teams that were as impressive as the Shooters were. Tip-Off is a springboard for players to gain momentum going into April, and Watkins used the platform as intended. - Josh Tec
