23 in 23: Let's talk about the top spot in the 2023 class

Is Isaiah Collier your No. 1 player in the country for the class of 2023? If not, who is in the best place to make the case in the home stretch to steal that spot from him?

JUSTIN YOUNG: Yes, he’s my No. 1 guy in the class and I feel like the gap continues to get wider and wider between him and the rest of the pack. In a year where I think Scoot Henderson will be a major talking point between now at the NBA Draft in June and then the summer league and into the regular season, the strong guard with scoring, passing and athletiticm will be a hot topic.

In hoops, we keep up with the cool things. And the type of guard Scoot and Collier are the coolest kids in the class. Collier has done just about everything he can to solidify his Nol. 1 spot in the class and I think he’ll hold firm throughout the rest of the ranking year for the class of 2023.

JUSTIN YOUNG: Long-term, I wouldn’t be surprised to see Aaron Bradshaw make a push for the No. 1 spot (or No. 2) once he plays a one-and-done season in Lexington. The big man fits the mold for the modern-day NBA big man and the class seems to lack legit size and talent at the position. He’s a long-term prospect kind of guy and given the right situation in college and beyond, I could see him emerge as a guy who climbs above the rest of the pack not named Collier.

JOSH TEC: I have been pretty blatant about how much I love Isaiah Collier. He has earned the No. 1 spot in the class. He processes the game differently than most, and he has a killer mentality on the court. But, we’re here to talk about anyone OTHER than Collier.

My guy in that case is Justin Edwards. The future Kentucky Wildcat has shown flashes of being the next in the long lineage of UK players that only spend a few months in Lexington before heading off to the league. His game fits what people are looking for. Edwards is a bigger wing that can shoot it. I mean, that’s what it’s all about right now. As he gets better as a creator, I don’t see why Edwards can’t be a lottery pick, and if he’s talked about in that context, he’s certainly good enough to be the top guy in his class. We currently have him at No. 3.
