FABC Saturday Standouts, Pt. II

GAINESVILLE, Fla.—With a state as big and diverse as Florida, there are plenty of next-level prospects to see, and a lot of them gathered in Gainesville for the FABC high school team camp.

Several college coaches were on hand for the live period event, and I made the trip down on Saturday to check out a day of the inaugural event. Throughout the week, I’ll empty out my notes from the day with some standout performers.

It’s hard to process that Fuentes is a rising freshman. He plays a more mature game than that. He looks more like a rising senior with his poise and IQ at the guard spot. Fuentes has advanced feel as a player with the ball in his hands a lot. It’s just that he beginning for him, but he should be a name that pops up on lists like this for a while.

Raul Perez

Perez posted a double-double for NBP in their morning win. He plays hard, he plays tough. That’s where so much of that production came from. He didn't do any single thing extraordinarily, but he did everything well. Perez can fill several roles and fill them well.

Chris Arias

St. Johns, FL

Already committed to Jacksonville, Arias had some of his future coaches lingering around, and I’m sure they were happy with what they saw. With good perimeter size at 6-foot-6, Arias looks like he’ll be an early contributor in college because he can fill several roles right away. He guarded the opposing team’s best players, handled the ball, rebounded, and scored in a variety of ways. There weren’t many boxes he didn’t check.

Jeremy Elyzee

Elyzee is a stock riser in the southeast. He did so much for Pembroke in their morning win. It was his passing that shined through the most, but he used his length well on defense and flashed different parts of his offensive skill set too. Either with Pembroke or Florida Pro, coaches shouldn’t let Elyzee go unnoticed.

Bureau has been a name we’ve been tracking for a while now. He’s on the rise and kept his momentum going on Saturday. He opened the day with a steal and a transition bucket for Suncoast, and he’d go on to shine throughout two games. He ended the day at his best. Bureau showed off his calling-card athleticism and speed in a blow-out win. He impacts the game across the board, especially on the defensive end. His ability to rebound from the PG spot is valuable as well. Once a sleeper, Bureau is emerging as a next-level target.
