Career Milestone: Alabama's Newest 1K Members PT II

Hitting the milestone of 1,000 career points in high school is definitely an outstanding achievement, and it should be much appreciated because a lot of players don’t reach this point.

Reaching this level takes a lot of discipline and the skills to score the rock consistently.

For the second time, I reached out to a few players to get their thoughts on moving into a different plateau of a high school baller.

The Road to 1K

Standing at 6-foot-4, Efrem “Butta” Johnson has been locked in this season, and it is no surprise that a player of his caliber would surpass the mark of 1,000 points.

“It feels really good; it just shows that all my hard work is paying off and that none of this is possible without my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.”

Labaron Philon is a 6-foot-4 combo guard from Mobile, AL, and is highly considered the top recruit for the class of ‘24. Philon is explosive and extremely agile, attacking the lane. He is currently averaging 23 points, three assists, and five rebounds.

After hitting this milestone so early, one could say that the sky’s the limit for this young athlete. Philon provided some great details on how he felt about reaching 1,000 points.

“It is a great feeling to get it only as a sophomore, but I am not really focused on that right now,” he said. “I’m just trying to get our team better and make a run in the playoffs.”

Kolby Horace has continued to prove why he is one of the best available guards in the Southeast, and now he steps into the class of the 1,000-point club.

Horace’s achievement is impressive because he is now the All-Time leading scoring for Spanish Fort High School.

Horace says reaching 1000 was something he wanted to accomplish since 8th grade, so it felt great to be part of the 1,000 points club.

“I felt like I could be the all-time leading scorer, but I was not really worried; it just kind of happened, and it made me proud of myself because I put in a lot of work to be like this.it definitely made me feel like I was that guy.”

Colin Turner is a 6-foot-9 big from Birmingham, AL. Turner is excellent from the post position; he finishes strong and is patient with his attacks to the basket. Next year Turner will be stepping on the campus in North Georgia as he continues his basketball career.

Helping Spain Park to a 20-5 record, Turner has now crossed over into 1,000 points, and he gave so insight into what it felt like to achieve this goal.

It really is a great feeling because I couldn’t have imagined reaching this milestone four years ago and being able to celebrate with my team and having them just as excited as I am for this is an amazing thing.”

The Citadel commit Colby McAllister has been deemed one the best shooters in the state, and that great shooting has led him to this amazing goal.

“It feels really good; I’ve been dreaming about doing it since I was a kid and just really wanted the 1,000-point ball in my room. And hitting a thousand points against my old school to that was even better.”
