Elite Preview Camp Team 7 Breakdown
(#66) Brandon Ashley: Ashley is a guy who can come in and be counted on to hit a few shots from deep and make plays for everyone else around him. He’s a great passer who makes nice reads more often than not. Ashley’s coach remarked about his coachability too. - Josh Tec
(#63) Boston Kersh: This is a peek behind the curtain for readers: I'm going to be releasing a list of some of the best shooters at the camp, and Boston Kersh is going to be on that list. He just kept hitting shots to the point where I had to circle his name in my notebook. His shooting is what caught my eye initially, but he’s also a good positional rebounder. He’s a perimeter-oriented player who’s good to pull his fair share of boards per game. - Josh Tec
Braedan Lue: Lue is a guy with a more physical, more mature build than most of his peers. At 6-foot-6 with a strong build, he’s a mismatch nightmare. He used his athleticism to punish the rim, and he used his size to finish over smaller defenders. Lue is a great rebounder with his physicality, and he has the ability to be a quality defender. - Josh Tec
Caleb McAbee: McAbee is a guy who coaches love. His coach raved about how great he was to coach, and he’s the guy on the floor that embraces doing the dirty work. You never have to question his effort, and McAbee is going to make smart plays. He sees the floor well and jumps passing lanes well. - Josh Tec
Sharif Mosely Jr: Mosley is a raw prospect, but he did some nice things at camp. He attacks the basket well, and he dished off some nice passes. I could see him developing into a solid prospect down the line.
Jamir Russel: When taking notes about players who were new to me, Jamir Russel was a guy who stood out more than most. He’s a tough player who embraces defense more than most his age. Russel plays well both on and off the ball on offense. He blends burst with craftiness and patience to make his way to the basket where he’s a reliable finisher. Russel showed off his range with a consistent day from the perimeter too. - Josh Tec
Blake Wilson: Wilson is an absolute worker with limitless energy. He’s tough around the basket, and it feels like he rebounds everything. He shoots it well from mid-range. At 6-foot-5, he’s a forward now, but I could see him being a versatile weapon as he continues his development. - Josh Tec
Yuta Yamamto: Yamamoto is one of the guys who I always tell other scouts and media members to sit down and watch if they’ve never seen him before. He’s so much fun to watch. Yamamoto is as pure of a point guard as there is in the 2024 class. He breaks down defenses with precision and finesse. His handles are great, and he knows how to keep defenders off balance. His court vision is great, and he’s known to dish out some flashy passes. As a scorer, Yamamoto can light it up from all over the place. He’s deceptively great at the rim, and he can shoot it with the best of them. - Josh Tec
