BP's Three Point Play

Welcome to my Three Point Play. This is my first one since moving to Florida and I will take a look at some of the top news pertaining to recruiting, the upcoming scholastic season, and more hoops news out of the sunshine state.

Ven-Allen Lubin Trims His List to Seven

After a spectacular showing throughout the live period, Lubin emerged as one of the hottest prospects in the southeast. The 6-foot-8 PF is as productive as they come and will make a college program very happy soon. His top-7 include Florida, Auburn, Notre Dame, Alabama, Clemson, Virginia Tech, and Georgia Tech.

Malik Reneau Set to Commit Wednesday

The forward out of Montverde Academy will be deciding between Miami, Memphis, Florida, and Florida State on Wednesday at 2pm. I was able to see Reneau in July at the NBPA Top 100 camp and he really stood out due to his motor and versatility on the offensive end. With Memphis recently adding Jalen Duren and Emoni Bates, I would guess that one of the Florida schools will be able to keep him in the state. We don't have to wait long to find out where he chooses.

9/3 Official Visits

With college football season about to be in full swing, that means a ton of official visits. Here are where some of Florida's top players will be this coming weekend.

AJ Brown: Ohio

Jaden Bradley: Florida State

Jamar Franklin: South Alabama

Jett Howard: NC State

Ryan Jones Jr. wins Gold

One of Florida's top players in the 2024 class won a gold medal at the 2021 FIBA U16 Americas Championships. That win pushed their gold medal count up to seven and qualified them for the FIBA U17 World Cup.

Public School Honors

Dr. Philips was named as the No. 4 public school in the country by The Circuit. After winning a state championship last season, the Panthers are primed to make another run at the title as they return Ernest Udeh Jr., Denzel Aberdeen, and Riley Kugel. Dr. Philips will be playing a national schedule this season.

Orlando Christian Prep currently has the longest winning streak in all of high school basketball with 47, according to the circuit. This will be a fun team to watch heading into this season led by the core of Ven-Allen Lubin, AJ Brown, and Jayden Chastings
