Spring Preview Team 1 Breakdown
Jamal Leggett, Guard, 2021: When Leggett was in as the lead guard, he showed that he understood how to play at the right pace. He was able to control the tempo and create for his teammates. As a smaller guard, he has a nice floater once he gets into the lane.
CJ Pipkin, Guard, 2021: Pipkin was one of the better lead guards at the camp. The Cass guard works the glass, is patient off of ball screens. When he is hitting shots, he is one of the best in the gym. Pipkin is a quick footed defender who likes to get up in the ball handler.
Jamal Jackson, Guard, 2024: The freshman guard out of Bradwell Institute is a blur with the ball in his hands. He gets to the other end of the court so quickly with just a few dribbles. He likes to push the tempo and kick the ball ahead to his teammates.
Jakorri Arnold, Forward, 2024: Arnold is another promising freshman out of team one. He can hit shots from the perimeter and inside the paint. He also looks to get his guys around him involved early in the game. This freshman out of Salem plays with a ton of composure and could see varsity minutes next season.
Johnny Johnson, PG, 2021: Johnson is a physical guard with a stout frame. He likes to get downhill and get into the lane. Once in the lane, he makes the correct reads on whether to score it or kick it out to open shooters on the perimeter.
Jalen Hardy, Forward, 2021: The 6-foot-5 forward out of Warren County High School was one of the best rebounders in attendance. The way he soars through the lane attacking the boards is fun to watch. He was effective around the rim, showing his soft touch and solid footwork.
Suri Surafiel, Forward, 2021: Surafiel has a smooth game inside the paint. His baby hook and fadeaway shot made him tough to defend once he got the ball on the low block. This is a kid that can play inside out and made a ton of plays.
Jaye Gant, Forward, 2021: Gant is one of the most productive seniors that are still available in the state. His stats may not always make you look twice, but he makes winning plays. He is active on defense and on the boards, and he does a lot of dirty work. He has a nice stroke from the outside and can create off the dribble.
Jaheim Robinson, Forward, 2021: Robinson was named as one of the top performers of the camp. Read about him here.
