March is the time for crowning champions. One of the biggest accomplishments a team can get when the season is over is being able to carry the hardware home from winning the state title These four programs below did that yesterday. 

1-A

Wilson Prep 65, Lincoln Charter 58

Head Coach Anthony Atkinson leads Wilson Prep to the state title in his second season. Devyn Bullock was named the Most Valuable Player of the Game finishing with 14 points and 7 rebounds. Also leading the way was Eric Wynn, a forward who had 17 points and 10 rebounds in the win. Nasiar Blackston finished with 12 points and 5 assists. Wilson Prep finished their state championship season at 7-2 overall. This was the first state title for Wilson Prep in any sport. Wilson Prep out-rebounded Lincoln Charter 41-29 for the game. 

Lincoln Charter led at the half 34-26. Sam Cogan finished with 15 points for Lincoln Charter and was named Player of the Game for the Eagles. 

2-A 

Farmville Central 113, Hendersonville 98 

The highest scoring game in NCHSAA Championship history, Farmville Central ended up being just having too much firepower for Hendersonville. This was a fun game to watch and both teams played hard and the referees called a tight game. 

Farmville captures their third-straight NCHSAA 2-A state title and seventh overall. NC State signee Terquavion Smith led the way with 33 points, 9 rebounds and 10 assists, finishing one rebound away from a triple-double. He was named The Charlie Adams 2-A Most Valuable Player of the Game. Smith on the win, "I've never had my hand out. I have worked for everything." 

 Sophomore Jah Short finished with 23 points and 9 rebounds. Short connected on 9-18 from the field and also pumped out 7 assists. 

Big man Leontae Moye finished the game with 21 points and 12 rebounds. 

Farmville Central led by 8 at halftime, 50-42. The third-quarter was when Larry Williford's squad started to take over pushing the lead to 18. Hendersonville was led by the junior-sophomore duo of Kenan Wilkins (28 points) and Dwight Canady (31 points). The duo shot 7-22 from beyond the three-point line. Hendersonville returns a majority of their scoring from this season and should be in the running for a title again next year. Sophomore Keenan Wilkins on next year, "It was a great season and it was an amazing experience for how young I am and I wouldn't change it but next year our goal is to be in the same place holding up that state championship trophy." 

3-A 

Weddington 56, Northwood 47

Gary Ellington and Weddington High School win their first state title in school history. Junior guard Chase Lowe led the way for Weddington finishing with 14 points and being named the Charlie Adams 3-A Most Valuable Player of the Game. He shot 5-14 from the field and also finished with 7 rebounds and 5 assists. Weddington led the entire game, finishing with a 9-point win. Weddington was also led by their Player of the Game, AJ Cook who finished with 10 points in the win. One of the big differences in the game was Weddington was able to force 16 turnovers against Northwood including 11 steals. 

Head Coach Gary Ellington on the win, "Feels amazing, I am so proud of our team to have stuck together through this year of uncertainty. We are a family and it showed night after night on the court and off." 

For the freshmen led Northwood High School team, 2024 forward Jarin Stevenson scored 13 points, grabbed 7 rebounds and dished out 5 assists. Fellow freshman Drake Powell finished with 15 points and 6 rebounds. 

4-A 

Millbrook 67, Ardrey Kell 65 

In what was the most exciting game of Championship Saturday, Millbrook High School and Ardrey Kell High School went into overtime where Millbrook prevailed by a late steal and lay-up by junior guard Silas Demery and missed free-throws by Ardrey Kell. Demery's steal with 4 seconds left sealed the game. Demery should see his stock rise finishing with 22 points, 7 rebounds and 3 assists. The Charlie Adams 4-A Most Valuable Player of the Game was Louisville signee Eric van der Heijden who despite fouling out before the extra period, finished with 21 points while making 5-7 from beyond the arc. 

Purdue-Fort Wayne signee Redford Dunton finished with 10 points and 6 rebounds in the win. Dunton had this to say about the championship win, "The feeling is an unreal one. I never had a doubt in my min the 'Brook would find their way to the top. The real always prevail and that shows tonight." 

Millbrook out-rebounded Ardrey Kell 41-28 over the course of the game. 

Leading the way for Ardrey Kell was junior forward Elijah Gray who finished with 18 points and 11 rebounds.
