2021 Jackson Holcombe shining in senior season in the state of Utah

Jackson Holcombe is having a monster senior season in the state of Utah.

The 6-foot-6 guard is posting 20.8 points, 8.8 rebounds, 4.4 assists and 1.9 steals a game. He leads Utah’s 5A division on the glass and is one of the top three scorers in the Beehive State. Holcombe is shooting 37 percent from three-point land, too.

Holcombe is coming off a 38-point performance against Lehi High School last week.

His coach Izzy Ingle, a former college coach and player himself, thinks it is time for the next level to take notice. Holcombe is playing like a guy ready to make an impact at the next level.

“He’s such an interesting player. He doesn’t just do one thing great, he does everything extremely well. He provides positional flexibility because he can play four positions on offense and can guard a point guard, wing or forward,” Ingle said.

“His greatest strength would be running the point guard and being an extension of the coach on the court. He’s a great scoring point guard who can get to the rim when you need a basket but also recognizes defenses, mismatches and can run the show. He’s like having a coach on the court.”

Holcombe came to our HoopSeen West Preview camp, powered by Pro Insight, back in October and showed a lot of skills that Ingle is talking about.

His touch from the wing is the one area that Ingle said he’s seen the biggest jump.

“His three-point shooting has improved the most from last year. He went from 31% to 37% and can shoot coming off screens or off the dribble,” Ingle said.

Like so many seniors across the country, Ingle’s recruitment has been a bit slow. He’s worthy of a good hard look by Division I programs looking for a guard with size and versatility.
