2019 South Carolina Fall Preview Top Overall Performers: Part II

Our HoopSeen Fall Preview took to the road and 78 players filled up the monstrous Upward Stars Center in  Spartanburg, South Carolina on Sunday for a full day of action on the hardwood. We came away impressed with the field and a number of players stood out with their play. Here is the second round of top performers from the event.

Explosive is the best word that describes Turner. He can score the ball from all spots on the floor and does so with energy and power. He is a strong and capable defender that wants to guard the oppositions best player. His natural game is going fast and playing hard but does it with control. He did a really good job of getting past his man and getting into the paint. The 2020 guard should start to turn some heads at the low Division One and Division Two level.

The 2020 small forward has transferred to Legacy Charter in Greenville, South Carolina for his senior season from Florida. Really shot the ball well on the day and was dangerous from the three-point line. He does a good job of making his defender bite and come out on the perimeter only to go by him with a quick first-step or crossover. He is a crafty scorer that finishes at the rim with contact and doesn't get pushed around.

Coming down from Asheville, North Carolina, Thompson showed why he is considered one of the top guards in WNC. The 6-foot-3 point guard has great size at that position and has a strong build. He was able to control the pace of the game with his handle and creates space to get separation and make shots from outside. He is a skilled passer that always found the open man in transition or in the half-court. His recruitment is picking up a little with some low-major Division 1's getting involved and some good Division 2 programs.

Really nice size at the guard spot at 6-foot-5, Hodge is currently ranked #7 in our HoopSeen South Carolina rankings for 2020. He does a great job of finishing with contact in traffic. He is an athletic slashing guard that creates a lot of turnovers on the defensive side of the ball. He uses his length to come up with deflections on multiple occasions and showed a consistent jumper from the mid-range out to the three-point line. He told HoopSeen that he is scheduling a visit to College of Charleston in the near future.

Playing with the Carolina Pressure organization, we saw McDuffie on a few occasions on the HoopSeen platform over the spring and summer at our Tip-Off, Atlanta Jam, and The Best of the South. McDuffie played with the 16U team and the team played up in The Best of the South. The athletic shooting guard scored the ball in bunches in every game. He Finished well around the rim and showed he has a consistent shot out to the three-point line. He told HoopSeen that he has offers from St. Bonaventure and Fayetteville State. McDuffie was named to our 17U All-Tournament team at The Best of the South.

Irmo's Tim Whipple has another really good guard for one of South Carolina's most storied programs. Kiett is a motor-driven guard that goes and goes. He was all over the floor in both of the games that we watched him play. Ultra-athletic scorer that gets up and down the floor in a hurry. The 6-foot-1, 2022 guard caused problems on defense with his quickness and was hard to keep up with in the open floor.
