Trae Benham lands first D1 offer, Nolan Dorsey talks New Mexico visit, Tristan Maxwell sets up two visits, Isaiah Caldwell picking up offers.
Nolan Dorsey Talks Visits
New Mexico Head Coach Paul Weir came to Millbrook (NC) High School this past week and watched 6-foot-6 point guard Nolan Dorsey. After watching him, he extended an offer to Dorsey and he visited the Albuquerque, New Mexico campus this past weekend. "It was great to meet the coaches and players. The facilities are amazing along with the fan base," he said.
Dorsey told HoopSeen that he is thinking about a fall commitment right now. As for this weekend, Dorsey will head to Boone, North Carolina and visit Appalachian State for an official visit. Earlier this week, UT-Martin offered him, one of the best passing point guards we have seen this year.
Maxwell Taking Official Visit to Georgia Tech
Team Charlotte and North Mecklenburg guard Tristan Maxwell has been on our HoopSeen radar for some time and this weekend he will head to downtown Atlanta to take an official visit to Georgia Tech. The Yellow Jackets offered the 6-foot-2 guard at the end of July and have made him a priority. The son of former NBA player Vernon "Mad Max" Maxwell has also scheduled a visit to NC State for October 11. Read what HoopSeen's Tai Young had to say about Maxwell earlier this season at The Chick-Fil-A Classic.
Benham Lands First Two D1 Offers
The June NCAA evaluation period allowed prospects to play with their high school team and gave college coaches a chance to evaluate players in a different setting than we have been used to. One player that stood out during North Carolina's session of the live period was Trae Benham of Concord (NC) First Assembly. The 6-foot-2 shooting guard from the class of 2021 recently picked up an offer from the University of North Florida, his first D1 offer.
Earlier this afternoon, Winthrop Head Coach Pat Kelsey offered Benham. "I's super excited that my hard work is paying off. I give God all the glory. It doesn't stop yet I'm still going to work my butt off," he said.
Benham impressed our HoopSeen staff with his ability to shoot consistently from anywhere on the floor out to the three-point line. The left-hander is a skilled guard that has a high basketball IQ and really has a good understanding of the game. First Assembly has a roster full of Division One talent and Benham can now add his name to the list.
Caldwell's Recruitment Picking Up
6-foot-3 point guard Isaiah Caldwell who spent the summer and spring playing with the Upward Stars SE adidas sponsored program picked up another offer from Dartmouth this week. With the latest offer bringing his total to five including Army, Navy, USC-Upstate and Presbyterian. Caldwell is ranked in our latest 2020 South Carolina rankings at #16. Caldwell has really good size at 6-foot-3 at the point guard spot. Bucknell was in this week to see him.
