Alabama Fall Preview Team 8 Evaluations
Our Alabama Fall Preview camp is in the books and our staff of evaluators and coaches have gone through their notes of every player in the camp. Every. Single. One. Today we look closer at Team 8 from camp.
Martavious Russell, 2022 SF, Sipsey Valley: Bouncy, athletic wing that excels at slashing. High energy and plays above the rim. Always in attack mode beating his man off the dribble to the basket. Can guard the 1-4 because of his length and athleticism. Good instincts on defense, especially on the weak side to block shots.
George Lee Brown III, 2022 SF, Bob Jones: George will pass up an open shot and make the extra pass for an even better shot. Effective in transition with good court vision to make the right read. Good on-ball defender. George has a good understanding of when to look to score and when to make the right pass.
Parker Henry, 2022 PF/C, West Lauderdale (MS): Young, long and lanky big man with a very good mid-range skill-set. Extremely effective in the pick-and-pop and can finish with both hands around the basket. Good court vision and passing out of the high post. He already rebounds well in traffic, and, as he gets stronger, he will become more effective amongst opposing big men. Quality shot blocker in and out of his area with a regular consistency of affecting shots on the defensive end.
Jalen Jackson, 2021 SG, Bob Jones: Tough guard that doesn't take any plays off. Uses his long arms to rebound and be a quality player on both ends of the floor. Excels at absorbing contact around the rim and finishing with contact. He also showed the ability to finish with both hands. Not afraid to mix it up and compete in the paint with bigger players.
Kaleb Kirkland, 2023 CG, Auburn: Point guard with good court vision. He understands and controls the tempo of the game offensively. Kaleb scores from the perimeter and can guard his position. He's a very unselfish player and plays with a passion and celebrates his teammates' success.
Dow Nichols, 2020 SF/PF, Fairview: Quality combo forward that is a blue-collar workhorse. Can step out and shoot from the perimeter and knock down the open jumper. Doesn't back down or shy away from contact and uses his knowledge of angles to get small creases and rebound. Great competitor on both ends of the floor.
