A look at some available forwards in Georgia's 2019 class

As we get deeper into the new year, now is as good of a time as any to look at just some of the forwards that are still available in Georgia's 2019 class. It's an interesting time of year as the majority of events have passed, leaving Martin Luther King day and the state playoffs as the most appealing dates for college coaches to turn over stones. With both of those dates approaching, these forwards have garnered attention from varying levels of college programs.

Armani Harris, 6-6, F, Newton: One of the better forwards that slipped through the cracks of th early signing period, Armani Harris checks off several boxes that division one programs aim for. A 41 point showing at the North Georgia showcase is something that wasn't unforseen for those that have watched his progress closely. Last year, he was best suited as your classic roll man finisher that could put away everything Ashton Hagans fired his way. While thats still his bread and butter, a glimpse at his film will show a soft touch, nimble feet and the ability to stretch the court. An intriguing skill set coupled with a second to none motor gives him the tools necessary to be a contributor in a programs backline rotation.

Tucker Gilbert, 6-5, F, Lakeside: The most recent viewing of Lakeside forward Tucker Gilbert came at this years Chick Fil A classic, an event in which his 17 point, 17 rebound game shined some light on his. talents Obviously, 17 rebounds doesnt come easy, a number thats only earned with instincts, athleticism and a good deal of physicality. The ability to rip drive from the mid post has carried some of his production as hes able to take same size defenders off the bounce. Some time at a two year could be beneficial for Gilbert as he continues to reach his potential.

Joshua Lusane, 6-7, F, Americus Sumter: Lusane had a trail of coaches following him closely from Atlanta Jam through to the Best of the South. The word versatility comes to mind when describing the play or Lusane as he showed a variety of different skills that can be utilized on the hardwood. Transition defense's would especially feel the power that Lusane possessed whenever he pushed the tempo after rebounds. While some forwards force the issue, that isis nev the case here as Lusane is a natural ball handler. The ability to knock in shots from the outside while shifting up and down different lineups should help him tremendously going forward.

Felix Uadiale, 6'6, F, Eagles Landing Christian: Watch his box scores closely and you'll find a player that has had some impressive rebounding totals throughout this season. At the Hawks Naismith Classic, Uadiale would go on to bring in double digit rebounds by bouncing in and out of his area. One of the more aggressive forwards in the peach could benefit from some work on the other end, but his ability to chase rebounds could make him a tough player to keep from giving minutes too.

Derrick Harden, 6'8, F, Pebblebrook: If there's one player that benefited from greatly from a productive December, it is high upside forward Derrick Harden of Pebblebrook. For a game that was played almost a month ago, there are still vivid flashbacks of a player that won the one on one matchup of highly recruited Somerset forward Dudley Blackwell. The Emerald Coast 16 felt like a coming out party for a forward that was relatively untalked about before he took advantage of the events new stage. At his size, his athleticisim and fluidity of his moments will make him a tough cover for years to come. Some time well spent in the junior college ranks could help mold him into a mid major prospect.

Tay Watson, 6-7, F, Newnan: Division 1 programs have come out in droves to evaluate Newnan forward Tay Watson. Outside of the wait and see approach that programs often fall victim too, there's little reasoning that justifies why more programs have not extended an offer to one of the best players at our past October's Georgia Fall Preview. Programs from the Big South, Sun Belt, and Socon have been involved with a player that shot up our in state rankings after a great showing around a deep pool of in-state prospects. A great motor and a ready made frame makes him a legitimate option when looking for back line help. Our staff covered 12 major events spread out across the east coast during the month of December and yet Watson remains as one of the best options for non high major programs as we head into the late signing period. Those that wait could find themselves intrenched in a recruiting battle that they could've avoided during the winter months.

Kevin Powell, 6-6, F, Woodward Academy: It's easy to get caught up in all that 5 star forward Walker Kessler brings to the table but the dirty work done by Kevin Powell had forced programs to take notice. As Navy tracked him during the summer, other programs have also expressed interest as Trevecca Nazarene has become his latest offer. When rebounds seem out of reach, he's one to make an extra effort as hes learned to make the most of his size over time.

Shawn Ohuabunwa, 6-8, F, Greater Atlanta Christian: The guard play at GAC has grabbed the majority of the attention this season, and if you've seen Hunter McIntosh and Ben Sheppard then you'll understand why. But most teams are only as good as their interior presense and Shawn Ohubunwa held the fort until the return of Chris Hinton. Ohuabunwa passes the eye test as a 6'8 forward with a frame built for mixing it up down low. There's been some promising moves along the season, but his current calling card is his rim protection and rebounding. After polishing up his skill set overtime. Ohuabunwa could turn into a solid option at the non division one level.

James Glisson III, 6-6, F, Southwest Dekalb: Much like that of Watson and Harris, Glisson has been on the tips of several division one staffs tongues all season long.Glisson is a rim rocking forward whos dunks leave a lasting impression well after the games final buzzer. A smooth mid range jumpshot has been on display while he consistently starts the break for a team built for transition. Kennesaw State, New Hampshire, Mercer, and Missouri State are some of the schools involved so far.

Our senior showcase was attended by several programs last year as college coaches trust our HoopSeen staff to have some of the top talent available in the peach. With extensive coverage of the players over their 4 year career, coaches know that our staff have evaluated many of the prospects at our events, well before they attend our showcase. As we start to send out invites to the states best availables, email tyoung@hoopseen.com if there is any player you feel has earned an invite this season. We will only consider the players that want a serious opportunity to play basketball at the next level.
