Georgia Elite Preview team evals: Team 6
Our annual Elite Preview took place on Saturday at Kell High School and the camp was filled with talent from the 2018, 2019 and 2020 classes. Our staff of coaches and evaluators collectively broke down each player in recaps. We continue our team by team evaluations from the camp today.
This was the first time many Atlanta area hoop heads had a chance to see the future high major prospect. He didn’t disappoint with his play, effort and energy. “Ebe” was on a lot of the top 10 performers lists submitted by coaches and evaluators. Still raw in his understanding of how to move effectively on offense, but the big man can knock down midrange jumper as well as baby hooks inside. Once he understands he doesn't have to swat at every shot he will become and elite defender, too.
For a freshman, he has an Incredible understanding of pace and tempo and possess a high level basketball IQ. He was the most productive player on the team and would not shy away from being physical inside. Ellis can also showcase perimeter skills, too. Time and time again he just made the excellent play with his poise and patience with the ball and was a joy to coach all day.
One of the camp’s highest risers. Our coaches were very impressed with Flagler's game and his explosive moves to the basket. His ability to knock down the jumper is his best strength. The 6-foot-2 guard is deadly in transition and can lock you down defensively. Very coachable with a desire to get better.
A three-point threat from start to finish, Jolly was one of the better shooters in the camp. He has added some versatility to his offensive game with floater options in the paint. He could become a stronger defender and play through contact on his drives. He’s also a gifted point guard as a set up man.
A smooth lefty, McLean came on strong in the later games of the day. The Westlake guard defended multiple positions and was effective attacking the basket to score or make the proper pass to his teammates.
A very coachable and long 6-foot-7 forward has a solid mid range jumper and will attack the rim in traffic. Rhodes is an effective rebounder. He has good hands, grabbing everything when in his range. He is strong and has a frame and length that should continue to fill out in a good way. He was very coachable and a great teammate.
One of the best guards in the entire camp. The strong-bodied freshman is athletic and aggressive from the backcourt. He could evolve into one of the top players in his class in the state and beyond. Wright has the ability to become a playmaker and not just a shot maker. He defends well and competes and still improving on his pick and roll reads. Overall, it was a great Saturday of work for the 2020 prospect.
