2015 Fall Preview Top Performers: Part 3

The Fall Preview was a loaded event with some of the top players from the state of Georgia and surrounding southern states. Our staff of evaluators went nearly 20 people deep. After compiling the evaluations from the coaches and HoopSeen staff, we have identified the 12 top performers and the four biggest story starters.

Here is part 3 of our top overall performers.

Jay Estime, G, Berkmar (GA), 2017: Estime has had a great showing at fall camps. At the Fall Preview, I was curious to see his versatility offensively. He is beginning to get to a point where he plays all positions one through three, showing that he is becoming a capable point guard in spots after previously being known as a wing. He excelled in ball screen situations and also shot the ball very well from the perimeter. He also continued to show he can rebound in the middle and defend bigger players, adding to his versatility. Look for him to be a stock riser in Georgia’s 2017 class.
Javon Greene, PG, Henry County (GA), 2017: The Henry County guard has one of the most complete offensive games that you will find among Georgia’s 2017 point guard prospects. He is a very good ball handler and keeps the ball on a string, but where he really shined at the Fall Preview was shooting the basketball. With all of his offensive abilities, he does not have a glaring weakness. He is very difficult to stop and could have a big year down south of Atlanta.
Ashton Hagans, PG, Newton County (GA), 2019: Hagans continues to show that he is beyond his years at the point guard spot. Despite being a freshman, he showed absolutely no fear taking on any and every opponent that came his way, including a great matchup with fellow freshman Kyle Sturdivant. Hagans showcased a very well-rounded offensive game, but where he was best was getting to the rim and finishing as well as finding teammates. He handles it well enough to take defenders off the dribble to get into the paint, where he can bully smaller guards and finish over them. He is one of Georgia’s best 2019 prospects.

Bryce Smith, PF, McEachern (GA), 2016: Smith is a physical freak. The 6-foot-8 excelled running the floor at the Fall Preview, and when he was running in transition he was something to watch, throwing down some huge dunks. He was also very active around the rim, using his length, athleticism, and strength to his advantage.  He can finish through contact with ease and also showed the ability to step out and knock down a shot or two in the midrange. He is an imposing player on the floor, and his physicality is going to be a big factor in his game as he continues to develop.
