We had a fantastic day of action on Sunday at the Alabama Fall Preview. During drills, gameplay, and other sessions, our coaches and staff were closely evaluating all the action. 

Here’s what our coaches and staff had to say about Team 3:

Michael Chobey, 2027 F, Huntsville: Chobey exudes the Huntsville High basketball mantra: play hard and do the little things. The freshman went to work on the boards and excelled as an offensive rebounder. He has a knack for finding loose balls, too. 

Orlandis Beale: 2025 F, Sparkman: Beale literally does a little bit of everything on the floor. Need a rebound or a defensive stop? He can do that. Need a pass or a shot made? He can do a little of that, too. The junior is a hard worker and touched all facets of the game. 

Westin Hammond, 2027 G, Guntersville: Hammond was one of the few freshmen in the event, but he didn’t let that deter him from being scrappy and competing. The Guntersville guard was active and pulled in some offensive rebounds while also knocking down some shots from the perimeter. 

Jay Lamar, 2025 G, West Point: Lamar is a blue-collar guard that can make an impact on both ends of the floor. The 5-foot-11 guard is more than capable of making shots from the perimeter, but he’s tough enough to take bumps from defenders and get to the rim. He was also a valuable piece on defense with his knack for quality help-side defense. 

Quay Lynch, 2026 PG, Pinson Valley: After putting up some impressive numbers at Woodlawn, Lynch has made the most to Pinson Valley for his sophomore season. Despite only being 5-foot-10, Lynch was one of the toughest players in attendance. He competed on defense and made life rough for opposing guards. 

Mica Merriman, 2025 PG, Gaston: Merriman received some votes as a top performer and was included in our additional standouts list. 

Kaden Rickard, 2025 WF, Bob Jones: Rickard was named as one of the top performers from the Alabama Fall Preview. Read what our staff had to say about him here.

Michael Stanford, 2026 PF, Madison Academy: It was hard to ignore Stanford’s overall production and motor. The 6-foot-7 big man plays with a high motor and brings plenty of versatility to the floor. The sophomore showed the ability to guard multiple positions and he was a good finisher around the rim. Keep an eye on Stanford in the 2026 class.
