2023 Spring Preview Team One Evaluations
SUWANNEE, Ga—The 2023 HoopSeen Spring Preview was this past Sunday, and it provided an awesome field of players from varying age groups. Here’s a look at the guys who made up team one.
Buford was one of the more impressive guards on Sunday. He’s skilled at the point guard spot and plays with good pace. He has a tight handle and can get by guys with some crafty moves. Buford moves the ball well and doesn’t let it stick. Later in the afternoon, he was able to make a killing by getting to his mid-range jumper.
Owens is a reliable finisher. That sounds simple, but it’s such a valuable trait. Being consistent at the rim is paramount for players. It’s especially important with a player who’s aggressive like Owens. He can also hurt teams away from the rim with his shot-making ability.
This team had a great backcourt and Dunston was a part of that. He’s a skilled guard who can hit shots from all over the floor. He reads defenses well and has a good feel for the game. Duston makes good reads and dishes solid passes. He’s a great guy to have running the show for a team.
If you’re looking for a dirty-work kind of player, Miller is the guy for you. He does a little bit of everything when he’s on the floor. He’s a guy who’ll battle on the glass and guard multiple positions. Miller is someone that can take an offensive opponent and make his life difficult. On offense, he’s a slasher through and through. As a Jonesboro guy, of course he has southside grit.
Anderson seemed to find himself as the day progressed. He got into a grove later in the day when he got more time to shine. He’s a coachable guy and brings effort to the floor. He made some solid defensive plays late in the day and showed some of his potential on offense too.
Lemelle was one of the brighter stars at HoopSeen’s Elite Preview in the fall. His size and length separated him from the pack on Sunday at the Spring Preview. He’s a double-double machine. His ability around the basket will be one of his calling cards as his name generates more buzz throughout the spring, but he proved to be an outstanding passer on Sunday.
Clay Payne was tabbed as one of the camp’s top performers. You can read more about him here.
