DJ Gordon discussed his new home and new interest

Dayton, Ohio - While the Xenia and First Love matchup featured the pairing of Cinncinattis Samari Curtis and Mount St. Marys, DJ Gordon did just enough to raise eyebrows when afforded the opportunity. The 6'5 junior showed great athleticism and a knack for scoring from all three levels. Several possessions left me wanting more as after every possession, a bigger piece of the puzzle was brought to light. While Gordon is well known to his opponent, he started the year by proving a point to his teammates.

"Coming into the season I had a expectations because basically everyone is getting recruited. I'm the new guy, the new face, so I just started off by letting guys know who I am. Trying to let them know right off the back that I can do this and I can do that. I didn't want guys thinking that I couldn't hang with them."

Since transferring from Obama Academy to First Love Academy, Gordon has seen his recruitment soar as high major programs have thrown their hat in the ring.

"TCU offered me. South Florida, Virginia Tech, Wichita State, Dayton, Arizona State, and other high majors"

"I've been on a few unofficials. I've been to Cincinnati last week. Really enjoyed it. I went to Dayton a couple of months ago and I enjoyed that as well. My first offer was from Kent State and I had an unofficial down there and I enjoyed all of my officials. I plan on taking some officials during spring break but I don't know who yet."

Through all of the programs involved for his services, one program has made it a point to involve both him and his parents.

"I think Wichita State and how they communicate with me. A lot of coaches don't like talking to me and my parents together. Witchita State talks to me and my parents by putting us in a group chat and make sure everything is cool. I can't say any early favorites right now but I'm enjoying this process."

Since speaking with Gordon at Flyin to the Hoop a few things have happened for the Pennsylvania guard. First, VCU offered him a day after the event finale. A few days after Jeff Capel and his assistant Tim O'Toole evaluated him at the same event, Gordon took an unofficial visit to Pitt during their matchup against Duke. With no upcoming official visits, there doesn't seem to be a clear cut leader or ending to his recruitment anytime soon. As other high majors get involved, things could get heavy as they all plead their case for his commitment.
