Summer riser Mackenzie McFatten is planning visits

Prior to the travel season, 2019 Douglas (GA) Coffee forward Mackenzie McFatten was an unknown to the recruiting world. However, after a strong showing with Team Power during April and July, the rising senior is now one of the most pursued mid-major big men in the South.

At 6-foot-7, McFatten is easy to spot on the floor with his motor and toughness. The hard-nosed big man plays hard from whistle to whistle and is one of the main reasons why he popped on college coaches' radars following the Atlanta Jam in April. However, what kept those coaches around is his ever-evolving game and versatility. With the ability to guard multiple positions on the floor, McFatten has become a must-have prospect for several mid-major programs.

"I have offers from Radford, North Alabama, Augusta, Alcorn State, Gardner Webb, Oral Roberts, Georgia Southern, USC Upstate, Presbyterian, and UNC-Asheville," McFatten told HoopSeen.com.

Many of those scholarship offers came following the Best of the South, where he was one of several prospects that used the event to emerge. While it has been a wild and busy few weeks since July ended, McFatten is now preparing for official visits.

"I have scheduled official visits with UNC-Asheville, Georgia Southern, and Oral Roberts so far. I'm working on setting up one to Radford now."

The official visit tour for McFatten will begin the last weekend of August, as he will make the trip to UNC-Asheville to see what first-year head coach Mike Morrell's program has to offer. The following weekend, he will make the short trip to Georgia Southern. Oral Roberts will get their shot the weekend of September 15th.

McFatten broke down what he likes about each school that has already penciled in an official visit with HoopSeen.com.

UNC-Asheville: "Coach Morrell makes sure he's the first head coach to text me every day. I have a very strong relationship with them and they are my first visit."

Georgia Southern: "I like Georgia Southern's communication and their coaching staff. They text me and call me all the time. They know a lot about me, my family, and personal life."

Oral Roberts: "It just feels like I've known Coach Solo for awhile now. He's very relatable and he feels like family. He checks up on me and admires my ability to do multiple things in the game."

As McFatten begins to take his college visits, he is a name to keep an eye on as a player that could be an instant impact for a mid-major program in the near future.
