5-star 2020 SF Corey Walker discusses his recruitment

Corey Walker is a unique player, boasting the size, skill, and versatility that coaches at every level covet. A productive spring season kept him entrenched with several mid-major and high major programs looking to add a valuable piece in the 2020 class. Things aren't slowing down on or off the hardwood for the 6'6 prospect. After being named one of our top performers at Bob Gibbons we gained some insight into who's after the multi-talented forward.

The offers have poured in since he picked up his first offer from UMass. Walker currently lists Florida, Florida St, Xavier, Virginia Tech, Missouri, West Virginia, Mississippi State, Texas A&M, Auburn, James Madison, North Florida, UNCG, Georgia Tech and Georgetown.

When asked was there a school that stood out so far in the process, Walker noted relationships between two different programs and their assistant coaches.

"Xavier, I like their assistant coach. He's a really cool guy. It was an instant connection between me and coach Hayes. Florida State is another one. Coach CY gave me an offer as a 9th grader. Their campus is only 3 hours away so I've been able to see a couple of games."

Florida State isn't the only campus that the rising junior has stepped foot on as Florida and Georgia Tech have all had him for unofficial visits.

Walker possesses the type of skill that could have an immediate impact as a freshman. Envision a forward with both inside-out skill, the more than capable ability to run an offense along with legitimate size and you'll understand why programs have targeted him as a priority in the 2020 class. Despite the accolades and offers, Walker still says that he seeks advice from others.

"Coach Vin and my dad talk to me a lot. My coach used to play college basketball at Jacksonville so he knows how this goes. My dad just supports me in what I do. I'm just looking for what best fits for me. I want to be comfortable. How the coaches interact with the player's and how the coaches coach their guys is important."
