Three things to look forward to at Peachtree Corners Invitational

The annual Peachtree Corners Invitational is loaded with talent this season and we’ll be on hand at Norcross High School for the entire event on Saturday. Justin Young breaks down the three things he’s looking forward to seeing the most tomorrow.

Wheeler vs Greensboro Day: Of the five loaded games on the slate, this one is probably the most intriguing. Wheeler is looking for a win over a major national program and Freddy Johnson’s 23-3 team won’t be an easy foe. That’s why this game is fantastic. The match-ups are intriguing across the board. Both teams are rich with Division I talent. Expect no less than 10 DI guys in the game. The match-up, if it materializes, that I’m looking forward to the most is Wheeler’s Jordan Usher (USC) and Greensboro Day’s J.P. Moorman (Temple).

Greenforest Christian vs DeMatha: Like size? There will be 10 players standing over 6-foot-7 in this game. Both teams are anchored by terrific size. Greenforest has a terrific group led by Florida State bound Ikey Obiagu while DeMatha leans on UConn bound Josh Carlton. However, both teams have talented underclassmen. Don’t be surprised to see Greenforest junior Mohamed Abdulsalem be an X-factor.

The battle of Bishop O’Connell’s Nate Watson and Norcross’s Lance Thomas is an interesting one because the two are very different type of big men. Watson, a Providence signee, is a rough and tumble post player who shines on the glass. Thomas, a Louisville signee, is best when he’s stretching the floor. Will strength and power win down low or will versatility and length win out?

2:30 p.m. — Miller Grove vs. Winston-Salem Prep (N.C.)
4 p.m. — Wheeler vs. Greensboro Day School (N.C.)
5:30 p.m. — Norcross vs. Bishop O’Connell (Va.)
7 p.m. — Greenforest Christian vs. DeMatha (Md.)
8:30 p.m. — Shiloh vs. Garner Magnet (N.C.)
