The Georgia Cup moves on to Columbus
The Georgia Cup is on the road for the second stop of the series as the tour anchors in Columbus this weekend. We will host games at Brookstone School and Columbus State University on Saturday and Sunday.
For tournament organizer Eric Eleton, going to the Southwest corner of Georgia made perfect sense.
"We're excited to bring the Georgia Cup to Columbus. For years we've had teams come up to Suwanee Sports Academy for our events. We thought it was time to bring our top-notch events to other parts of the Peach State," Eleton said. "It only made sense to go to Columbus with the Georgia Cup."
The 17 and under division has the most depth of all of the age groups and a Georgia Cup champion leads the charge.
The Macon Bucks are back on the Georgia Cup scene after winning the Suwanee edition of the series last weekend. Led by Rutland guard Ty'Lik Evans, the Bucks are quick, can score and love to run the floor. With Cortez Lattimore, Christian Henley and Jordan Jedneski, the Bucks have a lot of firepower on the offensive end.
Columbus area teams will be well-represented, naturally, at this Georgia Cup stop. Team KCP, Georgia Kings and Columbus Georgia Stars have teams spread out over the different age groups.
HoopSeen.com will have the entire event covered from start to finish on the website and through our social networks - @JrHoopSeen @HoopSeen @SuwaneeSportsAcademy (Instagram).
