Bucks continue winning trend in Macon

SUWANEE, GA -- There must be magic in Macon right on when it comes to basketball. The Macon Bucks won the 17 and under championship of the Suwanee edition of the Georgia Cup on Sunday afternoon with an 87-81 win over Atlanta TapOut.

Tied at 44-44 at the start of the third quarter Bucks guard Jordan Jedneski (Howard High School) hit three straight three-pointers, including a four-point play. From there, the game broke open and the Bucks never looked back.

"It was a big momentum booster for us. My point guard got me a good pass and that helped me hit those back-to-back-to-back shots. From there, we never really looked back," Jedneski said.

His point guard - Ty'lik Evans (Rutland High School) - was just terrific all weekend long. The speedster blew past defenders in this game and orchestrated his offense beautifully. Evans was part of Rutland's 24-win team and was one of the best players in the Macon area this season.

With Mercer winning in the NCAA tournament and now the Macon Bucks winning the Georgia Cup, the area teams are riding a high on the hardwood.

"To me, Macon never had a team. We have a lot of talent there now. For us to come up and win it, that was good for us," Evans said.

Evans scored 20 points while Cortez Lattimore scored 19. Jedneski scored 14 while Christian Henley scored 12 and Nick Burnett added 11.

Jordan Thomas was outstanding all weekend long for Atlanta TapOut. He scored 25 in the championship game, hitting seven three-pointers in the process. Elliott Strickland scored 19 while Trevon Reid scored 16. Chae McLaurin added 11 in the defeat.
