Three best players we saw from Florida at the HoopSeen #ATLJAM
The state of Florida was well-represented at the HoopSeen Atlanta Jam. We asked our team to roll out their top three performers from Tennessee. Meet our picks.
Kario Oquendo, CP25 Team Parsons, CG: Wow, what an explosive athlete he is. Oquendo was a dazzling guard from start to finish at the Atlanta Jam. I’d argue to say he’s one of the best sleeper guards on the East Coast in the 2020 class. He’s good enough to warrant an invite to the NBPA Top 100 camp in June in Virginia. Oquendo plays with a physical toughness that few guards in the 2020 class have. He’s looking to go through a defender at rim level. There was an intimidation level to his game that was refreshing. He’s since picked up some high-major offers since the event. - Justin Young
Nick Silva, Miami Tropics, PF: The Brazilian was one of my favorite big men in the event. He plays with a great deal of passion and intent. Silva isn’t going to win any athletic battles at all but he will win battles with his understanding of the game and his ability to score in the post with turnaround jumpers and crazy footwork in the paint. Silva is a nice pick and pop four man. He’s probably a little undervalued as a passer, too. It wasn’t hard to miss his energy on the court and he welcomed the challenges of playing more athletic players. He should be a good target for low-majors up and down the Eastern seaboard. - Justin Young
Eric Lee, Team Speights, CG (pictured above): When Team Speights Elite was in need of a great possession, it was often Eric Lee that got the nod to make it happen. Armed with good size and feel as a combo guard, Lee would make plays in transition that would pace his team well throughout the weekend. For a team that could play at a breakneck pace, Lee never seemed rushed or in a hurry to pick his spots. So much of the game just came to him, while never disappearing from the biggest moments. Coaches put a premium on size from their decision makers so it would not be a surprise to see a few get involved with Lee. There’s a lot of value in a guard that can blend in with lineups or be his units best playmaker. - Tai Young
Yussif Basa-Ama, Diante Blanch and Joe Bamisile were also named top overall performers from the Atlanta Jam.
