The first word I thought of when watching Bell in action on Sunday was ‘tough.’ It didn’t take long to realize the 6-foot-2 point guard is tough as nails on the floor. He’s shifty and got downhill to the basket with ease, converting difficult finishes at the rim through defenders. Bell oozes with confidence and swagger. I really like him going forward. - Garrett Tucker
I’ll go out on a limb and say Nicholls was one of the most explosive players at the Atlanta Jam. The bouncy, 6-foot-6 wing excelled in transition, showcasing his ability to play above the rim and make tough finishes at the basket. In the half court, the junior made some mid-range shots to go along with his straight-line drives going toward the basket. Nicholls also has a lot of defensive versatility. I could see him guard the 1-4 at the next level. - Garrett Tucker
It was hard not to be impressed by Nder Kalombo in my first viewing, based solely off of his passing ability and feel for the game at 6-foot-4. The Chattanooga (TN) Hamilton Heights guard did a fantastic job of seeing the next play before it happened and putting passes on the money for his teammates. The big-bodied guard should receive plenty of interest as the travel season progresses.
Marvin Golf immediately stood out because of the effort-based production in an early-weekend game. From then, his smooth offensive game separated him. Golf plays well both on and off the ball. He can create for himself or for others. While he can be a playmaker, he doesn’t need the ball to be successful. He doesn’t need plays run for him. He’ll make things happen in one way or another. There’s always some of those guys that seem to have a magnet attached to them. Lloyd was one of those guys at the Atlanta Jam. The stout guard has a knack for finding loose balls and they seemed to always translate to points for him. Lloyd mixed up his scoring repertoire, scoring from all three levels but especially packing a punch off the dribble. - Garrett Tucker
Kirk, an athletic two-way guard, made his introduction on the HoopSeen platform via the Atlanta Jam. The 6-foot-1 guard caused problems on both ends of the floor, whether it was using his length to disrupt on defense or using his explosiveness to make plays in the lane. Kirk did a phenomenal job of making plays off the bounce and being a playmaker for his team. The Clark Chalkville (AL) guard should be popular amongst regional schools going forward. - Garrett Tucker
Looking for a high upside guard that also delivers production? Look no further than Stephens. The 6-foot-2 combo guard is smooth with the ball in his hands and has plus ball skills. He did a nice job of creating scoring opportunities for himself and his teammates throughout the weekend. I can see Stephens being a guy that only gets better going forward, and his comfort with the ball in his hands will only make him better at the next level. - Garrett Tucker
Late Sunday afternoon, things are winding down and I see out of the corner of my eye, a guy that is crossing over defenders with a smoothness and making the long-range shot on the court I am not watching. I bump Josh Tec on the knee and have him watch. Next thing you know we are both loving what this kid is doing. The next play, he is making a pass to a guy that not a lot of prospects can make or even try to make. One play later he is throwing a full-court bomb to a guy that catches it and lays it in. It’s guys like this that might have been playing off-site that we haven’t seen that make an impact on a game and we were there to see it. Osorio doesn’t look like the typical college basketball prospect but he can play. For sure. - Justin Byerly
