2022 Elite Preview Team 1 Evaluations

SUWANEE, GA—HoopSeen’s Elite Preview is in the rearview until next year. We’ve already taken a look at ten of the top overall performers from the day, and now, we’re going to start our breakdowns of each team starting with team one.

Floor general is what comes to mind when thinking of Underwood’s performance on Sunday. He plays with good pace and controls the flow of the game well. He does a great job when it comes to spraying the ball around and getting others involved. He can get to his spots as a scorer and fill it up in a variety of ways too.

Shiloh Dunn

Dunn seemed to get better as the day went on. Early on, he caught attention as a nice defender, but later, it was his offense that shined. Dunn surveys the floor well on offense and attacks methodically with some craft. Without being physical or overly explosive, Dunn navigated his way through defenses and mixed scoring and passing well when he had the upper hand on the defense.

Smith has stood out on this stage in the past and did so again on Sunday. At 6-foot-3, he has good size at the guard spot. Smith does a nice job when it comes to getting to his spots and comes equipped with a nice floater and is good around the rim. He’s a player with the tools in place to keep leveling up.

Giesler showed promise out of the forward spot on Sunday. He operates well around the basket and looks comfortable in skill areas. His jumper is so clean from the wing, and it looks like he can be a dangerous player from out in the perimeter. I don’t say this often, but I wish he took some more shots from beyond the arc. I think he can impress some people in that regard.

Jaxson Jones

There were a couple of promising Archer players in the building, and Jones was certainly one of them. He has the physical tools already at around 6-foot-7 with a strong build. Jones is a stout defender with the ability to cover multiple assignments. He has a lot of long-term potential and will be a name to pay attention to.
