NextGen Preview Camp Top Performers II

SUWANEE, Ga—A collection of HoopSeen staff and camp coaches came together to compile a list of their top overall performers from the NextGen preview camp this past weekend. We’ve covered the first list of top performers, and we’re excited to being you some more of the names that generated buzz inside Suwanee Sports Academy.

Crouch paired well with Elijuwon Hale in the backcourt for team one. He’s a bigger, more physical guard for his age. Crouch checks a lot of boxes and impacts the game in more ways than just scoring. He rebounds well for his position and makes hustle plays. Crouch brought great energy on defense and routinely made nice plays on that end of the floor. Multiple coaches selected him as one of the camp’s top players.

Cooper Elzey

Elzey stood out as one of the tougher guards at camp. He routinely got by his man with ease and proved to be an excellent playmaker off the bounce and in pick-and-roll situations. When attacking, Elzey finished well at the rim and used some craft to get off tough shots. He showed plenty as a distributor as well. Elzey set his guys up with clean looks and played unselfish ball. While at camp, he was one of the more dangerous 3-point threats as well.

Maxwell has a physical frame for a guard his age and uses it well on both ends of the floor. He may have been the most physical guard I saw on Sunday. Maxwell was consistently aggressive in his pursuit of the rim and always embraced contact. He did a great job when it comes to going right at defenders and finishing through them. Maxwell was so productive because he’s hard to stay in front of and seemingly finishes everything at the rim.

Marcus Green

Team 3 ended up being pretty talented after the random team assignments, and Marcus Green was part of the impressive bunch. He was one of the more prolific scorers I saw, and he played well off of Grant Robich and Chase Lumpkin. He gave them a reliable target on the perimeter, and he did plenty in terms of offensive creation as well. Green is the kind of microwave scorer that can rattle off several points in a row that causes the opposing coach to burn a time out in frustration. While his three-level scoring is what I’ll remember most from watching him on Sunday, Green had some great moments on defense as well.

Carson Medor

Medor was one of the bigger players on Sunday and was a force around the basket. While he was a taller guy, he played even bigger than he is. For stretches of games, Medor controlled the paint on both ends of the floor. When it comes to rebounding, he’s a scrapper. If he doesn’t get a rebound, another player is going to have to earn that board. Medor battles hard. Offensively, he has a nice floater and an all-around solid mid-range game. Medor has soft touch at the rim and good hands. He was a solid target for guards. He’s another guy that the coaches loved. It’s not hard to see why.
