2025 Recruiting Snapshot: Jalen Reece draws high-major interest, talks Oak Ridge's June success
One of the teams of the weekend during the GBCA Southeast Regional Live event over the weekend was Oak Ridge (FL).
The Pioneers went 4-0 during their time in Georgia, and 2025 point guard Jalen Reece helped lead a balanced attack with 11.8 points per game.
“We’ve played together,” Reece said. “Everybody shared the ball. We’re all brothers, so it’s really contagious.”
Individually, Reece shined as a shooter and distributor.
Early recruiting interest
Illinois, Ohio State, SMU, Texas, Texas A&M—among others—have been some of the first schools to contact Reece since college coaches have been able to directly contact the 2025 class.
Over the years, Reece has shown his ability to lead a team as a point guard, but now that coaches are honing in on him more as a prospect, he’s looking to show off more of his game.
“I can score,” Reece said. “I’ve been a playmaker for my teammates, and I’m looking to score more.”
He wanted to show coaches that he could be more of a scorer, and he did so with a 15-point game that included some hot shooting from deep to end Oak Ridge’s 3-0 day on Saturday.
With plenty of time left in his high school career, the 6-foot guard has plenty of time to go through the recruiting process and develop a feel for what’s most important to him at the next level. For now, he has an early idea of what he’s looking for.
“Just the best,” Reece said. “The best fit for me.”
