Atlanta Jam Top Performers: 17U, part III
SUWANEE, GA - The NCAA Live Period lives in the Peach State and the 2024 edition of the Atlanta Jam unveiled a number of players worthy of a deep dive on the recruiting front. Our staff rolls out part III of our top overall performers.
I’ll go out on a limb and say no one helped themselves quite like Smith did this weekend. The reliable 6-foot point guard was phenomenal for Florida Pro Select at Atlanta Jam. He kept his foot on the pedal throughout the weekend and was one of the toughest defensive assignments in the event field. Whether it was getting in the lane and making plays at the rim or hitting shots from the perimeter, Smith rose to the occasion and delivered. I’m a big fan and excited to see where he goes from here. - Garrett Tucker
We have always been fans of shooters and playmakers here at HoopSeen and Purkey falls right into that mold. He can hurt the defense in so many ways with his shooting ability and his passing skills. The 6-foot guard has a handle on him and can make defenders miss. Once he gets by the defender he will get to the basket or knock down the mid-range jumper. - Justin Byerly
The 6-foot-3 guard out of Winder-Barrow (GA) had an excellent weekend here at our Atlanta Jam. Friday night, Shealey had a 24-point outburst and the game winning tip-in for OTP National. Shealey is an explosive guard that can get by defenders and get into the lane where he can put the finishing touch on. He handles contact when getting at the rim and was an honorable mention All-Region selection last season in the high school ranks. - Justin Byerly
Eichelberger has athleticism and a frame you can't teach. Standing at 6’6 with a long and lanky frame, he may surprise you when he jumps out of the gym for dunks and blocks. Eichelberger prides himself on the defensive end where he uses his length and mobility to muck up opposing offenses. He also has nice elevation on his jumpshot to shoot over good contests from the midrange or beyond the arc. - Nick Nelson
Joseph Gayle delivered an impressive 47-point performance on Saturday for the FCA Saints White squad, showcasing his ability to dominate with his 6’5” frame. His physicality allows him to overpower defenders, and his primary offensive weapon is an off-the-dribble three-pointer. Defensively, Gayle uses his length to disrupt passing lanes, frequently intercepting passes and converting them into easy fast-break opportunities and exciting dunks. His physique, play style, and scoring proficiency are already at a college level. - Jack Daigle
