17U White Best of the South Champions: S.A. Futures
ATLANTA—In a battle of Texas-based teams, San Antonio Futures top Dallas Showtyme Elite Black, 74-53, to claim the 17U White championship at Best of the South.
In the win, 6-foot-7 forward Robert Jackson scored 14 to lead S.A. Futures. The physical forward did most of his damage in the paint, but he showed his versatility as a prospect with a pair of 3-pointers.
While the final score indicates otherwise, this game was a back-and-forth affair to start. S.A. Futures gained a slight lead late in the first half, but Dallas Showtyme had an answer for every S.A. run.
The first half concluded with S.A. taking a 38-34 advantage into the break. As the second half progressed, S.A.’s lead ballooned with the help of great guard play from a pair of 2025s in Camden Cowgill and Kingston Flemmings.
For Dallas, Jayden Murphy and Mekhi Johnson led the way with a combined 19 points.
Cowgill knocked down three 3-pointers en route to 12 points for S.A.
Flemmings left his mark on the game via his passing. The young point guard consistently found open teammates via great reads and on-target passes.
