Exploring the Top Unsigned Seniors from the 2021 Tennessee State Tournament

The state tournament is set to tip-off in the state of Tennessee and our Andre Whitehead does a deep dive at the top available players in the class of 2021 from the Vol State. Who should college coaches be watching this week? We explore.

Davon Barnes (Collierville)
6'5 WF Senior

Transfer from White Station when the Memphis metro teams cancelled their season, great decision. Barnes is strong player who can score from the free throw line extended, he does great work in the paint and has improved his outside shooting stroke as well.

Grant Hurst (Cleveland)
6'2 PG Senior

Strong lead guard can run a squad and has the Blue Raiders in the state tournament for the second straight season. He thrives in big game situations and what's bigger than the state tournament. His game is predicated on confidence and his is growing as the post season games take on more meaning.

Trey Johnson (Cosby)
6'3 Guard Senior

Johnson is a Mr. Basketball finalist in Class A and is a scoring machine at this level. He has been masterful in this playoff run leading the Eagles to the state playoffs. An athletic guard who can score at every level, he has ball skills and plays with effort.

Brandon Maclin (Jackson Southside)
6'3 SG/WF Senior

Tough West Tennessee guard leads his team to the state tournament. Part of a balanced attack, Maclin is a beast on both ends of the floor. He plays hard and with passion. He scores inside and out and defends like it means something to him. His effort will be something to watch.

Kley McGowan (Cleveland)
6'4 SG Senior

Active leader is the heart and soul of his team with his energy and effort. He has a very nice stroke from deep and is improving his shot selection choices. He runs the floor and will finish in transition and is always active on the defensive end of the floor. Coaches love his effort and emerging skill level. Best hair in the tournament hands down.

Walter Peegs (Madison Magnet)
6'4 SG Senior

Great size for a guard, Peggs a Mr. Basketball finalist, is an improving shooter who has worked on scoring more off the bounce and using his size in the half court post up game. He averaged 23 per game this season and is a high academic kid as well.

Jaylen Wetzel (Siegel) / pictured
6'3 SG Senior

Smooth operator has good size for the position and a nice stroke from the outside. His moves are fluid and he contributes on both ends of the floor. He can spell your lead guard or be effective from the perimeter making him a valuable cog for any squad.

Toris Woods (Bolivar Central)
6'2 SG Senior

Woods is a Mr. Basketball finalist in the Class AA classification. A scorer by nature, he has quickness off the bounce and a solid stroke from outside. He loves to penetrate and make difficult buckets in the paint. He has decent size for his spot and will be someone college coaches need to observe.

Xander Yates (Houston)
6'8 PF Senior

This team is so loaded, Yates has assumed a bit of a role this season. He has excellent size and length and will be a contributor on the next level. He has the ability to shoot the ball and conducts himself in the vain of a European player with his skill level.
