Atlanta Jam—the first live period event of the year—is over a week in the rearview now, and the Grassroots Showcase—also a live period event—is mere days on the horizon.

Atlanta Jam was a tone-setter for many players, especially those in the 2024 class. As they start to emerge as recruiting targets, it’s paramount to utilize these weekends to kickstart their stories and generate buzz around their names. One player who did such at Atlanta Jam was Team Mookie’s 2024 guard Fred Bailey, who was recognized as a top performer that weekend.

Bailey recently picked up his first offer from Tennessee State and looks to continue that momentum going into the upcoming live period and add more names to that list.

“Honestly, I just want to show that I’m a winner,” Bailey said. “ I want to prove that I can not only score but I can facilitate and even guard the best player on the opposing team if needed.”

Bailey is a 6-foot-1 point guard who has helped lead Team Mookie to an undefeated start to the travel season.

“We're constantly in the gym, either working on our craft or as a team,” Bailey said of his team’s early success. “Also we’re very competitive when scrimmaging each other and our 2025 team which I believe is top in the nation.”

When on the floor, Bailey’s impact is impossible to miss. He’s a quick, physical and aggressive downhill guard who’s always in attack mode.

“I think I’m the best at facilitating because as I try to stay aggressive I draw in defenders which opens opportunities for my teammates,” Bailey said.

As a member of the 2024 class, Bailey has plenty of time to continue to bolster his game. When it comes to areas he’s most focused on improving upon, Bailey said the following:

“I will like to improve being a better leader as the season goes on and as I embrace that role. Also, I want to improve getting into my three-ball as well as I do my mid-midrange.”

For coaches in attendance at the Grassroots Showcase, Bailey is a guard to make note of.
