With an undefeated season on the line, Mr. Tennessee Basketball also looms for 2022 Chandler Jackson

The race for Mr. Tennessee Basketball in Division-II AA is tight. We featured Braeden Moore on Thursday and today we look at another stellar candidate in Chandler Jackson.

The 6-foot-4 junior combo guard from Christian Brothers in Memphis has always been an unselfish player. This season he has been more aggressive with a scoring mentality.

We saw this part of his game take off when Christian Brothers travelled to Nashville to play Ensworth High School and Kentucky bound guard Skyy Clark. Jackson and his teammates brought home the coveted win in the premier match-up. It was a huge upset on the road as they won and also was a statement game for Jackson. He showed up for the big game. Jackson is determined to win it all this year.

Jackson is averaging 22 points, five rebounds and five assists in the regular season. His Christian Brothers team is undefeated at 20-0 on the season. Jackson is hoping to get his first state championship in the process. With nine seniors on the roster, Jackson wants to help his older teammates go out in a championship in style.

Winning the Mr.Tennessee Basketball award would be a honor, he said, but an even better feeling to add it with a ring and finishing undefeated.

Jackson’s recruitment has been heating up as programs are aware of his talents on a nationally ranked high school team. Jackson dove deeper into the programs that have been consistent during his recruitment.

Florida State: “I like the coach Leonard Hamilton, I like how they play, I also  like how even if you come off the bench, there still is a chance you can go to the league because of how they prepare you.”

Alabama: “I like how they play, the style it’s a NBA play style. I like the coaches, they let their players have fun.”

Vanderbilt: “I like the whole coaching staff, it’s located in Nashville so it’s not far away from home. They also let you play your game, also have good player development.”

Ole Miss: “I like that it’s close to home, they play hard. Head Coach Kermit Davis gets them focused, and locked in.”

Wake Forest: “The head coach (Steve Forbes) - he’s a winning coach.  He is winning in his first year there, and he is doing good. They play how I like to play, they push the ball and run.”

Jackson said he will be suiting up with Team Thad on the travel circuit.
