The latest Region and Sub-State Action in Middle Tennessee

Region playoff and the sub-state games are the focus as we move towards the Big Dance here in Tennessee.

I want to say thank you to everyone who has given their support and prayers for my Dad as we struggle through this tough time.

REGION TOURNAMENT AND SUB-STATE GAMES

MIDDLE TENNESSEE

Milestones

Jett Montgomery (Independence): Sophomore was outstanding during the region tournament scoring 23 against Columbia in the semi and adding 24 against Ravenwood in the region final loss. Montgomery also surpassed the coveted 1,000 point barrier for his young career.

Brandon Miller (Cane Ridge): McDonald's All American was enormous as Cane Ridge moved to the sub-state. Miller began region action with a 30 spot against Riverdale, added 23 against LaVergne in the semis then torched Stewart's Creek in the region final with 39 markers. Miller also surpassed the 2,000 point plateau for his career forever etching his name in Ravens folklore.

Jaylen Jones (East Nashville): Junior guard is one of the most exciting players in the Mid-State. His 25 point effort against Community in the semi-finals was special as he slid past the 1,000 point mark for his career.

Scoring Efforts

Gavin Burleson (Summertown) & Grayson Burleson (Summertown): The brothers Burleson have been quite the duo this season for the Eagles, Gavin, a senior and Mr. Basketball finalist, had an excellent region tournament beginning with a 22 spot on White House-Heritage followed up in the semis with 23 against Cheatham County and then a 24 burger in the region final against Fairview. Grayson, A freshman, has been dynamite this entire seaosn. His region explosion was epic as he dropped 29 against Cheatham County in the semis and a cool 31 against Fairview in the finale.

J.J. Wheat (Clarksville): The senior lead guard was the catalyst as the Wildcats marched the a home sub-state contest. Wheat opened up region action with a big 31 against Clarksville Northwest. He followed that up with 25 against Henry County in the semis and closed strong with 22 in the region finale against Rossview.

Gus Davenport (Cannon County): A fantastic high school career came to an end with a loss to York Institute in the region semis. Davenport went out like a boss, scoring 37 against Bledsoe County in the region opener and closing his prep career with a 40 point effort in the loss.

Grant Strong (Clay County): Mr. Basketball finalist want one more trip to the 'boro and his region effort left no doubt. Strong opened up region action with a slick 36 on Knowledge Academy, sprang up with a 37 spot against Gordonsville in the semis then closed hard with 32 against East Robertson in the region final.

Ryan Oliver (Cane Ridge): With all the attention focused on his highly acclaimed teammate, Oliver has made himself into a college prospect with his play at the region tourney. He dropped 22 in the region opener against Riverdale and added a 28 spot on LaVergne in the semis. Put him on your radar, seriously, do it now.

Sub-State Scoring Efforts

Gavin Burleson (Summertown): Mr. Basketball finalist drops 35 as the Eagles advance to the state tournament with the victory over Gibson County.

J.J. Wheat (Clarksville): The sparkling senior guard was amazing...again.. scoring 31 points as Clarksville advances to the state tournament with the win over Memphis East. Wheat also endeared himself to the Wildcat faithful forever as he pushes past the 2,000 point mark for his career.

Brandon Miller (Cane Ridge): The Alabama signee was determined as he led his squad with 29 point and a trip down the road to that big glass building with a huge sub-state win over Walker Valley.
