The best 2025 TN prospects from the 2022 Bob Gibbons Tournament of Champions

Twenty-two years ago I scouted my first Bob Gibbons Tournament of Champions. The venue has changed over the years but it is still one of my favorite events of the summer scene. Let's check out who shined at this years event from Tennessee.

Landon Bryant (LaVergne)
2025
6'1 PG/SG
Team Mookie 2025

This smooth operator caught my eye very early on that Saturday morning with his skill level and exorbitant basketball IQ. He showed a sic mid-range pull-up that gave me chills, love that shot for a small guard. He showed he could bury the deep shot as well. He glides well without the ball and find open spots and creates scoring chances for himself and others. He is slight built but has no fear, he blocks shots with his length and he isn't afraid to go chest to chest with those attempting to question his physical prowess. He is not overtly explosive at this stage of his development, he knows how to change speeds and gets by his defender with skillful handles and that sweet pull-up. He can start the break or fill the lanes and score, his versatility and consistency are traits that belie his age bracket. Very nice young prospect whom I look forward to watching progress the next few years.

Jeremy Jackson (Columbia Academy)
2025
6'2 PG/SG
Team Mookie 2025

Explosive young guard with massive potential, Jackson has amazing handles for his age group and uses this skill to create scoring chances for himself and grateful teammates. He has good size and can play either guard spot at this juncture of his development. His outside shot is adequate and could use some slight mechanical tweaks to make it a weapon. His shot selection was in question at times as he tended to force the issue. He will need to develop his left hand as a source for added scoring touch off the bounce or in transition. Athletically he is well above majority of his class and as his skill level and maturity grow so will his overall production.

Tylan Lewis (Independence)
2025
5'11 PG
Team Mookie 2025

How impressed was I with this kid? Let me tell you all about it. At first glance the body is above average strength wise for his age group, he gets anywhere in the paint he wishes to go, he can score with either hand around the rim and is a dawg on the offensive glass. His outside shot is still a work in progress but he made strides as the event moved along and he is a worker who understands his strengths and weaknesses and will work to alleviate those issues. On the defensive end is where he shines even brighter. His on-ball pressure is unique, he uses his body to make his defender go places he wishes not to go, he challenges every shot and closes out to get the caroms and start the break. He is an exciting passer who scopes the floor and finds cutter and open shooters. Needless to say he was one of my favorite players at the event.

Trey Willoughby (Fayetteville)
2025
6'7 WF/PF
Team Mookie 2025

Very impressed with his progression in just the two days I had the pleasure of watching his game develop. On Saturday morning I thought to myself once everything clicks for this kid he is going to be special. He struggled a bit physically inside, he got beat to some boards by smaller players and his shot wasn't falling. All that changed on Sunday. He was a monster inside scoring with that sweet lefty gait on either side of the glass, he had countless offensive put backs and dared anyone to shoot in his vicinity. His size, length and athleticism automatically draw your attention. He plays hard and was fully motivated as the stakes got higher and it showed in his effort. Consistency is tough at this age bracket but once again when it all clicks we have ourselves a national prospect in this talented young guy.
