Ohio Basketball Grassroots Showcase Top Perfomers: 2025 part II

Via Ohio Basketball's Carley Whitney

LOUISVILLE, KY – The annual spring stage of the Grassroots Showcase was once again loaded with teams, prospects and storylines. With states from all over the country and Canada represented, there were plenty of notes to go through.

Our partners at Ohio Basketball caught the action and roll out some of their top performers from the action at the Grassroots Showcase.

Let’s take a look at our top overall performers from the action, starting with the 17U age group:

Gabriel Scott, Peak Vision Elite

Quick PG, with good handles. Showed the ability to make a variety of different passes in the half court and in transition. Quick release shooter who can shot on the move and can create his own shot. Has a smooth mid range pull up as well.

Niko Downs, OPS Ervin

This dude plays so intense and so focused, all the time. He is the catalyst of a team that puts up points in bunches. He is so dangerous because he can play either guard spot at a high level. He pushes the ball in transition to perfection, or he can carve up the defense in the half court. Scores the ball from all over the court. What sets him apart is his intensity on defense! He will dig in and pester the ball, whether it’s in the half court, or he can pick up 94 feet and make your life miserable.

Brody Hauer, Michigan Goonies

PG with a scorers mentality who is also a pure shooter. He has shown a variety of ways to get his shot off. He has great footwork off screens and with the ball in his hands. He’s a hard matchup for defenders because of his ability to create for himself and also his ability to get to the rack if you get in his face.

Will Gall, Hidden Gems Black

Strong-physical guard. This kid does a lot of things real well. First things first, he’s a great shooter who can lift up and get his shot off on pressure defense, and if you give this kid any space he’s gonna make you pay. He has the ability to attack you off the dribble and score at the rim. His physical style of play is a tough matchup for a lot of guards. And to round out his game he showcased his ability to find open teammates off the bounce. As a day three find, this kid is definitely a hidden gem.
