Kobe Edwards Commits to Elon
The Elon University basketball program landed the commitment from one of North Carolina's top 2026 guard prospects, Kobe Edwards yesterday. The 6-foot-2 point guard out of The Greenfield School in Wilson, North Carolina is a player that will be able to come in and make an impact as soon as he arrives on campus.
Edwards makes the decision right on the cusp of the high school season and gets this weight off of his shoulders so that he can focus on his senior season.
I have had the chance to get to know the Edward's family and they have handled this situation the right way. With the changing landscape of college basketball recruiting, I think Kobe is a guy that can get minutes as soon as he gets adjusted to the speed of the game and could be a guy that high-majors are calling on after his freshman or sophomore season. K3 has the game to compete in the CAA and he will.
Edwards had a lot of high-major offers between his play with Boo Williams on the EYBL circuit and the schedule that Rob Salter has his Greenfield School program play. Sometimes it is all about fit at the right time. I think this is the right fit with the current situation recruiting is in.
Edwards is an explosive lead guard that can get to the basket, he can make pull-up jumpers and is very athletic. He has good size at that position and with a little bit of the college-game weight program, he can be a big problem. Sit back and watch his senior season and don't be surprised if Greenfield School brings another banner home this upcoming season.
The Edward’s family close friend and The HoopState’s Rod Bridgers summed it up best, “The Elon Phoenix got better today.”
