WNC's Top Juniors : Trent Clark
Trent Clark, a 6-foot-1, junior guard at North Buncombe High School in Weaverville, North Carolina, has steadily became one of the top players in the Western North Carolina region. Clark has helped North Buncombe get off to a 6-5 start to this season. He is currently averaging 25 points per game through eleven games. He has an average of 3.4 assists and 3.8 steals per game to go along with 5.6 rebounds every time he goes on the floor.
He was named All-Conference and All-District last season. Clark is a skilled guard that is able to get into the lane and can make shots from the outside. He has a strong feel for the game and understands where the ball needs to be on the floor.
Runs in the Family
His older brother, Chad Clark, a former North Buncombe player started his career at Southern Wesleyan and is now at Montreat College. The younger Clark holds offers from Montreat College and Milligan College. It's not very often that players from WNC, at least in the public school ranks, receive offers and for Clark to already have two offers says a lot.
The North Buncombe High School program coached by Chuck Robinson has had a good amount of players go onto play college basketball over the past few years, something that a lot of programs do not have the chance to say.
He achieved his 1,000th career point in a game against Freedom High School, a benchmark of his scoring ability and consistency on the court.
Clark is on track to a similar path recruiting wise that former standout Ren Dyer had going into his senior season. Dyer, who also made the All-District team and was All-Conference, had a couple of Division II offers his junior season and ultimately picked up some Division One offers before having a four year career at Carson-Newman.
