Recruiting Riser : Chaise Smith
Recruiting Riser
Chaise Smith, a junior point guard from Washington High School in North Carolina, is off to an electrifying start to the season. Standing 6'1", he is averaging 29.3 points per game so far this season. Last season, it was Smith’s leadership that helped Washington High achieve a 20-9 record and a second-round appearance in the NCHSAA 2A state tournament
What We Know
At our HoopSeen Tip-Off last March, Smith was named a top 16-and-under performer.
"I have seen it in person being from the same state as Smith but this weekend was a little different. He showed what he is all about with his Georgia Stars 16-and-under squad against elite competition. Hailing from the same high school as Dominique Wilkins, in tiny Washington, North Carolina, Smith is going to be a national-level recruit. His flashy passes and handle coupled with his raw athleticism and ability to score translate to high-major level basketball. He is what is fun about basketball, you can tell that he loves the game and his competitiveness shines bright with his play." - Justin Byerly
Recruitment
He holds an offer from College of Charleston from last May. He tells HoopSeen that the only school he has really been hearing from is Appalachian State. I think that Smith has the ability to be a guy that can play at the high-major level and can contribute. I think it is just a matter of time before those schools start to get involved. He is so much fun to watch play with his athleticism and his ability to score in so many ways.
