Passmore Set To Make Decision
The top-ranked player in the HoopSeen North Carolina rankings is set to make his college decision on Wednesday night at 7PM. Rakease Passmore is down to LSU, Kansas and Oklahoma. The Florida native came to North Carolina a few years ago and has been making a name for himself ever since. He is now at Combine Academy outside of Charlotte, North Carolina and he spent the majority of the travel season with Team Thad on the Nike EYBL circuit.
BRINGING TO THE TABLE
I think that Passmore can be an impact guy at any of the three schools that he is considering. He has athleticism that we don't get to see too often at this level of basketball. He has been working on his shot since I first saw him and he is now a threat from the perimeter. Combine those two attributes together and I feel like Passmore's game is really ready for the next level. He will be playing a national schedule with Combine Academy over the course of the next season and will be playing against guys that he will see at the next level.
WHAT WE SAID
Two and a half years ago, we saw Passmore as a freshman at AC Reynolds High School in Asheville, North Carolina. "Asheville (NC) Reynolds High School freshman forward Rakease Passmore has been phenomenal for head coach Ryan Stevens in his short career. So far this season, the high-flying forward is averaging 15.1 points per game and topping that off with 7.2 rebounds each contest. Passmore's last two games, he has went for 26 and 36 points, respectively. WNC is not an area known for college-level basketball prospects. The last one to put up these kind of numbers as a freshman was former NBA player Rashad McCants out of Asheville (NC) Erwin High School back in 1999. He has the size and the athleticism to make some noise over the next few years as a player that can be recruited at the Division I level."
"We have seen Passmore a few times over the past couple of weeks and he is showing signs of being on the cusp of a high-major prospect over the next few years. The 6-foot-4 Florida native has the length and the athletic ability to change the game. He has great timing on blocking shots and rebounding, has great footwork for his age and understands the game at a high-level. He understands where he needs be at on the floor on both sides of the ball. He has had some nice outings so far this season, including a 36-point outburst against rival Candler (NC) Enka HS."
