The Carolina Corner with Justin Byerly
Back in the late 90's Brick Oettinger would help publish an article called "The PooP Sheet" which gave information into the recruiting of some of the top prospects around the nation. Before the internet, this was what us "Die Hard" recruiting junkies would wait anxiously to read. Oettinger passed away earlier this year but his work and his mark on this game will always be remembered.
Here is my version of The Poop Sheet, The Carolina Corner. My version is a regional update on prospects that we, in this basketball recruiting world might eventually become anxious to read.
Dybantsa's Big Day
The nation's #1 recruit, AJ Dybantsa will make his college decision at 10:30AM on ESPN's First Take. His final four is Kansas, Alabama, North Carolina and BYU.
Edwards Updates Recruitment
Kobe Edwards, The Greenfield School - The 2026 point guard prospect from one of the perennial powers in the NCISAA, holds numerous offers already. Rob Salter, the head coach has had numerous prospects that have went on to play in college and some to the NBA. Coby White, Aaron Rountree, Jalen Harris, Ashley and Aaron Williams, Logan McLane, Sam Hughes, and others. His dad, Rod Edwards, tells us that Georgetown, Virginia Tech, Oklahoma State, Michigan and Appalachian State are the schools that have reached out the most recently. So for us in the heart of the ACC, we would have to see him leave the area for his college basketball career. His lone ACC offer is Virginia Tech.
Edwards has the explosiveness that you like to see with size at the point guard spot. The crossover is coupled with a solid mid-range game. He can hurt you with his shooting ability and is an above average passer. I think Edwards can be one of the best guard prospects out of this state at the collegiate level in a few years.

Freeman on FIRE
2025 guard Brett Freeman has been on a tear for Mike Craft's Ardrey Kell High School program. He is averaging 30 points per game through four games this season and had a high of 43 in his second game of the season. The 6-foot-4 point guard is shooting 50% from the three-point line, including making seven threes in his 43-point outburst. Freeman has a strong ball-handling ability, scoring ability, and a high basketball IQ.
Sweet Home Raleigh
Ashton King, the guard from Millbrook High School, is having an impressive season, averaging 23.1 points per game. He's a dynamic and versatile player—able to contribute in multiple ways, whether it's driving to the basket, shooting from distance, or getting to the free-throw line. He was a standout on our HoopSeen stage this past travel season when he ran with The Georgia Stars.
